SplatOverflow: Asynchronous Hardware Troubleshooting
TL;DR: That's probably the most creative application of 3DGS I have ever seen :)
Abstract (excerpt):
SplatOverflow creates a novel boundary object, the SplatOverflow scene, that users reference to communicate about hardware.
The scene comprises a 3D Gaussian Splat of the user’s hardware registered onto the hardware’s CAD model.
The splat captures the current state of the hardware, and the registered CAD model acts as a referential anchor for troubleshooting instructions.
With SplatOverflow, maintainers can directly address issues and author instructions in the user’s workspace.

BREAKING: 48K University of Calfornia TAs, postdocs & other student workers just walked off the job.
It's the largest strike in the US since 2019.
Many UC workers earn < $24k/yr. A PhD student I spoke to said they donate blood plasma to make ends meet.

Here’s what’s happening, why you should care, & how you can help Iranians communicate. 🇮🇷
For context, the operator accidentally hit the real deploy emergency warning instead of the test one because the signifiers were so poor 🙄 it’s not the operator’s fault if the system was just designed badly
Coinbase spending $16,000,000 on a Superbowl ad to direct people to their website and $0 to make sure that website doesn't crash 10 seconds after the ad starts is so very internet.
Tried putting contacts on this morning but my vision got worse so I thought I was having a Spider-Man moment when I actually just left my contacts on last night 🤥
