@drkerrynphelps I'm sure most health professionals would also like us to have another 'short sharp lockdown', which let's face it, would actually make a difference. If people were concerned about transmission they would stay at home. But let's put a cloth mask on act like we're saving the world.
Evidence for mask use in primary school age children:
According to a systematic review by @WHO using GRADE criteria there is low quality evidence of their effectiveness in this age group.
Since then, a couple of US studies indicate masks reduce transmission in schools but...1/
Whenever I see posts about long COVID in kids, I wonder why we aren’t talking about long depression. Long anxiety. Long addiction. Many mental illnesses pose a greater threat to youth than COVID, and follow them throughout their lives.
@GregDore2 There’s no scientific basis for vaxx passport since Omicron. Unvaxxed, 2 or 3x jabbed spread similarly. Showing vaxx certificate on entry declares you are highly unlikely of dying of covid or needing ICU but says nothing about whether you’ll infect the customers
How school closures have taken away the dreams of a better future for so many girls around the world
Schools should never close again

Fascinating data from the @ONS schools infection survey today, looking specifically at mental health and "long covid"
Reinforces previous reassuring data showing rarity of prolonged symptoms in children, especially those affecting daily life

“As a Greater Cleveland community, we should deliberately move away from COVID mandates and messaging that favor absolutism, judgment and moralizing. Health messaging grounded in compassion, nuance and humility builds public trust in our leaders and institutions.” 🙌 21x/

ATAGI may well recommend 3 doses to be fully vaccinated (I already have been recommending this to my patients). This does not mean we need to have universal mandates as the Premier is hinting, If booster does not prevent transmission then there is no logic behind mandates.
Everyone deserves to be free from harassment, bullying and sexual assault, no matter who they are or where work. The government needs to stop running from its responsibilities and make it happen. #auspol 9/9

@Milliganreports@PatsKarvelas@RNBreakfast What I find disturbing is the amount of religious schools and boy/girl schools in this country! Until that changes don't expect culture changes. Religion and gender segregation don't belong in education. You wouldn't work only with people of the same religion or same sex but...
@WHO_Europe Head says “pandemic is far from over, but..hopeful we can end the emergency phase in 2022 & address other..threats that urgently require attention. Backlogs & waiting lists have grown, essential services have been disrupted..” 1/ https://t.co/Bl1M3Am6gJ
@rwillingham@DanielAndrewsMP@abcmelbourne And why don't you recommend air purifiers for offices? Companies that boast increasing profits can buy them but "not required by law" so....
@rwillingham@DanielAndrewsMP@abcmelbourne Why aren't before school care being provided with masks? In effect, kids who have to attend before school care still need their parents to buy masks.
