An out of control AI, paired with criminal organizations, can totally screw us over…

I live in this world and have for years. I am witnessing, in near real time, massive leaps in capabilities of AI.

Just hours ago, I had one AI, install and completely configure a different AI (technically a LLM), from a completely different AI company.

I asked one AI to evaluate all current publicly available LLMs for the best one to code a specific python app I need to monitor the weather. It suggested a specific LLM, asked me if I wanted to install it, and not only did it install it flawlessly, it suggested other apps to allow me to use that AI model more easily, asked me if I wanted those installed… a simple ‘Y’ and it installed and tested the functionality of all the apps together.

All done on a Mac in my office from my Windows PC in my bedroom.

If I wasn’t too lazy, I would have had it start writing the app already. Actually, I already had the app written by a completely different AI… I just wanted to see if another LLM could do it more efficiently. I just was too lazy to copy the python and html files into the waiting folder in this latest AI that was just installed.

I’m just an old retired IT guy who is playing around with the latest tech. There are a million people out there who are involved in AI for not-so-benign reasons. It only takes a handful of them getting together and we are fucked. I’m 100% sure we already are. From a 1,000 different angles via 1,000 different individuals and teams.

I was in the audience at WDAF-TV in Kansas City back in the early/mid 70s when Andre made his first tour around the USA. Some guy from church worked for the station and got a bunch of us in.

I am pretty sure it was a Friday night… live TV. It was a promotion for a big event they were having the following night in KC. They had a ring setup in the studio and had several matches.

Years later, mid-80s, someone brought pictures to church from that night and we realized that there were a bunch of famous wrestlers there… but we hadn’t noticed. All the hype was over Andre The Giant.

We all got to meet Andre… couldn’t understand a word he said but he came across as a really nice person so it didn’t matter.
