A lot of men ask what it means to live a life of integrity in a world that constantly pressures you to compromise.
To me, it comes down to one core standard: unfailingly doing the right thing: the big things, the small things, and especially the things when nobody is watching.
Over the last several years, life has tested that standard in ways I never expected. I’m a 57-year-old professional writer, Army combat medic veteran, a devout Christian, and a single father raising two young boys (14 and 12). My oldest son, Cash, is non-verbal Autistic, and being his primary caregiver has been one of the greatest honors and humbling teachers of my life.
I’ve walked through the fire of losing a 24-year marriage and leaving behind the life (and my beloved farm) that we built. But through faith, heavy lifting, and daily discipline, I came out the other side not broken, but stronger, sharper, and more grounded as a father.
I want to start using this account to share real, hard-earned lessons for men—young and old—on:
• Raising sons to be men of honor and duty
• Standing firm in your faith when the storm hits
• Rebuilding physical and spiritual strength after loss
• Leading your family courageously, even when the culture demands compliance
We don't complain. We don't make excuses. We stand up. We build.
If you're a man striving to hold the line for your family and live with quiet strength, you’re in the right place. Glad to have you here.
@SherrysDrunk We must have different algorithms, because I haven't seen this Grok images to which you refer.
Also, I didn't say I DON'T like big boobs; I love them all!
I have a theory on why John Thune is making no effort whatsoever to pass the SAVE America Act.
The globalist RINOs like Thune understand that if we actually have voter integrity in place we will end up with a large majority in the Senate.
If we have a large majority in the Senate, the RINOs will no longer be able to block pro-Trump legislation.
If Trump's legislation actually becomes law people will love it and the RINOs may never get rid of MAGA. And MAGA is the opposite of globalism.
@LindsayIRL I wear my Ultra Range Vans for all gym workouts (and they double as my favorite disc golf shoes, too). I only switch shoes for running. And only have one pair of runnings shoes...
Sitting under the bar this morning, the weight of everything lost hit heavy on this milestone day.
Felt the grief, paused, then reached up, pulled myself to the bar for inverted rows, and chose gratitude instead.
Grief will visit, but discipline always pulls you back up. 🏋️♂️✝️
One year ago today, I closed on my new home and walked through the front door alone.
My previous life had just unraveled: a 21-acre dream home and farm—built through decades of hard work—were gone overnight. I walked into a brand-new much smaller home with nothing but a few personal belongings. A completely blank slate.
At first, I resented it. When my agent told me, "Welcome home," I snapped back, "It's not home; it's just a temporary house."
She looked at me and delivered the hard truth I needed: "Your two boys are going to live here. You better figure out how to make it a home for them."
The early months were a battle. Many evenings were spent on the back porch with a glass of whiskey, watching the sun go down, nursing self-pity and feeling displaced.
But self-pity doesn't build a life.
Brick by brick, routine by routine, prayer by prayer, I took ownership. I furnished rooms, established morning rhythms, filled the kitchen with good food, and made this place a fortress of security, joy, and peace for my sons.
Today, it is no longer just a house. It is our sanctuary. It’s the place where we laugh, heal, grow, and build a new legacy grounded in faith and discipline.
Tonight, I’ll step out onto that same back porch, pour a good glass of whiskey, watch the Tennessee sunset, and thank God for tearing down what was comfortable to build something unshakable.
Don't despise the smaller space or the humble restart. What matters isn't the address—it's the spirit of the man leading it.
"‘The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the Lord Almighty." — Haggai 2:9
One year ago today I closed on my new home while I also mourned the loss of what I thought was my forever home and dream farm (and my marriage).
Today, I realize God wasn't stripping me down to punish me; He was clearing away the excess so He could establish real peace under a new roof.
True peace isn't measured by acreage or square footage. It’s found in an orderly, faith-filled home where your children feel secure and God's presence is welcomed daily.
Trust the rebuild. The new foundation is always stronger. ✝️🏡
@Variety Very sad.
The sadder part of this story is how many women have done this and earned almost nothing, but have still harmed themselved by doing so.
365 days ago: I walked into an empty house with a few boxes, mourning the loss of a 21-acre dream farm and my 24-year marriage.
Today: Dropped the boys at school, pulled heavy iron off the platform, and living in a peaceful home built with gratitude and hard work.
I'll be pouring two fingers of whiskey on the porch tonight to watch the sunset and count my blessings.
God is good. The rebuild is real.
@noa_levyidf Shalom, Noa - thank you for the follow. I look forward to getting to know you through your post.
I am just finishing up at the gym before heading home!
