Your first half built your résumé.
Your second half builds the man.
I rebuilt my body, faith, and purpose in my sixties. I write for men doing the same.
I built & sold Screen Rant and Game Rant.
Then my marriage ended after 24 years, and half my net worth went with it.
20+ years building a life and almost no time on the man who had to live inside it.
Here's what the second half taught me. 🧵
Many men don't define themselves by what they've done. They define themselves by what was done to them.
The kid who got picked last. The woman who said no. The parent who never approved. The marriage that fell apart.
We turn wounds into résumés and call it identity.
You can carry that for a while. It quietly destroys the second half.
I wrote about what finally broke that pattern for me.

At 61 in Nashville I signed up for salsa classes on weeknights. I was easily one of the oldest guys in the room, counting steps out loud and stepping on feet.
For most of my first half I only did things I was already good at. Being bad at something in front of strangers felt like a threat. Somewhere after my divorce that flipped. I decided the second half was going to include things I was terrible at on purpose, because that turned out to be the only place I learned anything new.
Go be the worst one in a room this month.
@thinkwithpete Thanks, Peter!
I will say that free weight lifting incorporates more stabilizer muscles than a lot of machines. I prefer free weights, but have switched to machines only for the movements that make sense for me based on my physical limitations now.
