On this day in 1914, the world's first scheduled airline, the St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line, began operation in Florida. The flight covered 18 miles and took about 11.5 hours less than traveling from St. Petersburg to Tampa by rail. Regular fares were $5 one-way.
Words will never fully express our gratitude... Thank you, veterans, for your service.

Congratulations Boom Supersonic! We at @hmmhinc are thrilled to celebrate the completion of the Overture Superfactory at Piedmont Triad International Airport!
It is gratifying to have contributed noise and air quality analyses to the Written Re-Evaluation of the Environmental Assessment enabling this project. We look forward to future milestones and successes of the Overture Superfactory and Boom Supersonic.

80 years ago, nearly 73,000 U.S. troops landed on Normandy — some by parachute, some by glider, and some by boat.
For most of them, it was the first time they would step foot on the European continent. For many, it would also be the last.
This day, we remember them all.
We are delighted to announce that Sara Kaplan will be presenting at the TRB webinar: "New Corporate Environmental Standards Impacts on Airports" today! Hear her insights on how these standards are shaping the future of aviation. #Aviation#EnvironmentalStandards#TRBWebinar

Joe Czech, the Harris Miller Miller & Hanson Inc. (HMMH) Project Manager for the X-59 Quiet Supersonic Flight Community Testing Contract, attended the rollout of NASA's one-of-a-kind X-59, a supersonic yet quiet aircraft. "Seeing the X-59 up close makes you realize the scale of innovation and decades of research it represents to lessen a sonic boom to a thump. I'm proud that HMMH is a part of NASA's mission to record the X-59's thump and survey communities across the US. This technology could change history by making supersonic overland travel a routine reality!" said Joe Czech, Principal Consultant at HMMH.
HMMH has been awarded the contract by NASA to support this campaign of community overflight tests using the agency’s X-59 Quiet SuperSonic Technology research aircraft. The scope of work under this contract includes supporting the planning, execution, and documentation of phase three of the agency’s Low-Boom Flight Demonstration Mission. HMMH is eagerly assisting NASA as the X-59 Program develops, and the agency focuses more on evaluating possible impacts from noise emissions from supersonic aircraft, building on our substantial past work in this area.
Today, we proudly honor Mr. Eugene Reindel, the 2023 Randy Jones Award winner and a renowned figure in the aviation noise industry. With over three decades of service, Gene's expertise shines in noise monitoring, measurement, NOMS system implementation, and acoustical testing. This award is both a personal triumph and a recognition of his enduring impact. Congratulations, Gene!
