Henry Nowak: we must demand accountability - @JakeRWeston
Accountability is not hatred. Perhaps Farage is correct and on this – ‘we should be angry’. Because if a young man’s death, a catalogue of institutional failures, and a political ideology that repeatedly seems to blind public bodies to reality, cannot justify our anger, then what can?

The Nowak case really sums up what you might call the malicious incompetence of the British state.
You will be handcuffed while dying because it matches the anti-racism training a copper received.
The pope, AI and ‘magnificent humanity’ - @Robspiked
First, the title: Magnifica Humanitas: of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV on Safeguarding the Human Person In The Time Of Artificial Intelligence. At a time when humanity is definitely not widely regarded as ‘magnificent’, this is a welcome cheer for the human race. Only a couple of weeks ago, we were celebrating the hundredth birthday of Sir David Attenborough. @TimandraHarknes What's the R number?
I foresee a book, adjacent to broken windows theory, in which we propose a scheme for visible gentlemanly behaviour, which we argue spreads because non-gentlemanly types copy it. Said book then becomes brief but intense talking point for newspaper columns.

@mwt2008 That's northern Scotland with 3% of the UK population but wind rich at a time when heating and lighting usage is low. It's a terrible idea for an economically sustainable grid. Nuclear, yes. Wind, no.
After a day like this, only fools think burning fossil fuels for any longer than is necessary makes sense. The much derided Ed Miliband is right: his critics ultimately enemies of life on earth. https://t.co/QCnHuTOqm4
@KathrynPorter26 Also, very good speech. Living near Edinburgh, I've thought about getting a 10kwh battery for the house. But that doesn't solve the problem of communicating with the world if the whole grid goes down!
