PIPKO: “Can I just push back on that slightly? … I’m a daughter of two immigrants. I’m a supporter of immigration when it’s done the legal, correct way. I think immigrants have done an incredible bit of good for our country, including my own family.”

Add back the one word she skipped, and Abby’s accusation collapses. CNN might need to stop inviting Republicans on the show.

I’ve been asking myself lately: why did I start @xx_xyathletics? And why did I position the brand the way I did?

I’ve had plenty of brand savvy people tell me I should have made the brand about “women being badass.” People still do.

Yawn.

Should I have tried something more ambitious, more inventive? Should I have run for office — something I’ve been asked to do many times but always declined? Should I have just accepted my cancellation and ridden quietly off into the sunset??

No. The answer is no to all of it.

It may look like just a dinky athletic brand, but what we’re attempting to do here is significant.

Brands lie. Businesses feign “values” as a marketing strategy. They don’t mean it. They don’t mean any of it.

This is my skill set. I’m not an engineer or a math genius, but I have a feel for culture — and for how content (movies, books, brands) can move it forward.

I wrote “Chalked Up” to expose the systemic abuse in gymnastics. I said it first and I endured endless harassment when I did. But I was right.

I produced “Athlete A” to help drag the Larry Nassar scandal into the light. And we did. And we won an Emmy. And made a difference.

I know how stories and symbols shape what we tolerate — and what we fight against. And for.

There are a gazillion brands out there lying to your face, pretending to “care about women.”

Nike will make billions off female athletes while firing pregnant ones and driving others to contemplate suicide (ask Mary Cain). They’ll slap a “girl power” slogan on it and call it a day.

I will never lie to you.

XX-XY Athletics is putting it all on the line to take a real stand for female athletes and for women and for truth. We are proving we mean it every single day in this fight.

When we get kicked off TikTok, we don’t back down. When we get suspended from Meta, we don’t soften our message or change our principles.

Taking a stand for the protection of women’s sports isn’t the end of the line for us — it’s proof that we will put ourselves on the line, every damn time, for women, for truth, for fairness and for free speech.

When you buy from a brand, you’re not just buying a product. You’re voting.

You’re voting for the company, how it’s run, who runs it, how they show up, how they treat people and how honest they are.

I’m asking for your vote. For us.

We won’t lie to you. Ever.

This is a brand that means what it says. If you believe in protecting women’s sports, in biological reality, in free speech, in truth an an objective reality, in women’s rights, in refusing to bend the knee to corporate hypocrisy — then join us.

Wear the stand. Vote like you mean it.

It was not Elon Musk personally taking a loan. It was Tesla Motors, the company, that received a $465 million loan from the U.S. Department of Energy in early 2010.

The loan came from the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing program, created by Congress in 2007 under President George W. Bush. The goal was to support American companies building more fuel-efficient vehicles and create jobs.

Tesla was not the only recipient. The same program gave much larger loans to other companies, including Ford for $5.9 billion and Nissan for about $1.4 to $1.6 billion. Fisker Automotive also received $529 million but later went bankrupt.

In May 2013, Tesla repaid the full $465 million plus interest and prepayment penalties — nine years ahead of schedule.

They used money from a successful stock offering. Taxpayers actually made a profit of roughly $12 to $26 million on the loan.
Elon Musk publicly thanked the Department of Energy and American taxpayers at the time.

Tesla used a program Democrats supported...they just used it far more successfully than other companies
