@Gunwalls1 Yep, totally agree with you. My original post may have been a bit too pessimistic. I just wish they’d waited and announced the exact same thing alongside a launch date for B14–16.
Execution in motion.
Across our Texas manufacturing facilities, more BlueBird satellites are moving through every stage of production as we build the world’s first space-based cellular broadband network accessible directly by everyday smartphones.
We invented a new way to design, manufacture and deploy large-scale space infrastructure: advanced lightweight composite structures, stackable architecture and repeatable production at a scale never before achieved for commercial communications satellites.
More BlueBirds. More capacity. More connectivity.

Build. Stack. Launch. Repeat.

September 8th after hours has been very kind to space investors.
$ASTS gets another major breadcrumb toward defense sensing/radiolocation.
$RKLB drops a new production ready, high efficiency space solar cell.
September 8th after hours:
$ASTS — SDA formally backs BlueBird radiolocation testing tied to national security and the Space Based Sensing & Targeting portfolio.
$RKLB — launches IMM Apex, a 31.5% efficient, 40% lighter, germanium-free space solar cell now entering production.
@kellymetz2000 This is easily one of the most important aspects of $RKLB.
Losing the MTN prime contract doesn’t mean Rocket Lab is cut out of the broader opportunity.
That’s the beauty of not being just a launch company $RKLB can still compete across spacecraft, components, payloads, etc
$ASTS Been nearly 2 months since we shipped any satellites. I hate when management leaves us in the dark. How do we at least not have an update today and at least 1 more satellite ready to ship?
I’d stop hiring people for anything other than making satellites at this point.
$ASTS This could be HUGE.
Japan just filed “J-BLUEBIRD-NGSO” at the ITU for a 136-satellite constellation across 34 orbital planes.
That does NOT mean 136 satellites are ordered yet but it strongly supports the idea that J-LEO could become a sovereign Japanese network.
The Rakuten deal is exactly what we’ve been waiting for with $ASTS.
Governments are now willing to fund sovereign D2D infrastructure at massive scale.
Nearly $1B validates the model. Japan won’t be the last. Expect more countries to follow.
$ASTS - J-LEO will be one of many similar deals that AST SpaceMobile gets awarded as they have the only "sovereign-capable" D2D architecture in the market.
🚨 $ASTS 🇯🇵
Rakuten just reinforced the AST SpaceMobile thesis in a BIG way.
📡 Commercial satellite-to-phone service targeted for Q4 2026
🇯🇵 Selected for Japan’s J-LEO domestic satellite network project
🛰️ Infrastructure designed to keep Japan connected even during emergencies
It’s Sept. 3. It’s been 29 days since BB11-13 launched on Aug. 5, and we still don’t have a date for BB14-16.
AST said on Aug. 10 they’d be ready to ship shortly. If cadence is the key to ~45 satellites by early 2027, we need an update soon. $ASTS
