Elon Musk on Optimus: "It's a lot of work to get the design right and scale production. This is going to be the hardest product to scale that we've ever had at Tesla; We've had to build the supply chain out entirely. The Fremont production line looks incredible. Optimus will follow the s-curve of the manufacturing ramp, but the initial portion will be flat and long due to the newness of the parts in the robot."

ELON MUSK: "There is a really serious shortage of truckers, so there just aren't enough people who want to drive trucks, which are crucial for transport throughout America. So an autonomous semi is actually going to be very important to address the shortage of truck drivers. And obviously it will be great for improving safety and making it easier on truck drivers to have a self-driving semi. It's going to dramatically improve safety and comfort for truck drivers that use the Tesla Semi."

The best part of Tesla FSD is that it’s always improving. Here’s what’s coming:

• Pothole Avoidance
• Tesla is going to expand reasoning to all behaviors beyond destination handling.
• Elon says an update is coming that gives the car the ability to learn and default to your preferred spots over time. You’ll also be able to select exact parking destinations.
• Tesla is working on bringing voice controls to FSD in a couple of months.
• V15 is expected sometime in late 2026 to early 2017. This will be the model with ~10B parameters (10x more than V14).

The rate of improvement is only accelerating.

Ultimately, the end goal is Unsupervised FSD in customer cars. Tesla says when it does rollout, it will happen gradually in approved geographies, which make sense.
