In a 15-year ecological experiment in Kenya, elephants were kept out of East African savanna plots. The result? Beetle numbers fell by 67%, biomass by 51%, and species richness by 23%. Read the powerful story in The @timesofindia of how elephants shape ecosystems, far beyond the plants they eat: https://t.co/KFeb6xJAwC

UWA has begun taking custody of wildlife contraband confiscated at Entebbe International Airport between 2012–2018.
The haul includes:
• 6,017kg of ivory
• 2,030kg of pangolin scales
• 114kg of rhino horns
• 8.8kg of hippo teeth
• Skins, lion teeth & other wildlife products
The items were seized in joint operations by UWA and security agencies and had been stored at Aviation Police Entebbe, which cited limited storage space for the handover.

The Uganda Wildlife Authority @ugwildlife and @TourismBoardUg need to address a serious issue in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
There are now very few animals being seen in the park. Seeing lions has become very difficult, and visitors can drive for many kilometers without seeing even antelopes. This is disappointing for tourists.
Some of my guests even asked, “Where are the animals?” This shows there is a real problem.
Please look into this issue and take action so that visitors can have a better experience.
