My paper presented at AIChE from 2020, free-access, with NOAA’s own data for temperatures in 82 remote, tiny towns in CONUS, from 1900. Zero warming was found. A 60-year cycle is clearly evident.

When comparing 2025 to 1950 for total US energy use and its distribution between urban vs rural, we see that energy use per square meter of urban area increased roughly 2-4 Watts/square meter. Almost all energy used is rejected to either the atmosphere or to a body of water (e.g. river). This alone accounts for almost all of the measured warming.
Would be nice if the same calculation was done in other countries. We might see similar results.
A few basics on global warming:
80% of the population lives on 2% of the land area.
Cleaner air since 1975 allows more solar energy to reach the surface
Water vapor from human activities increased massively since 1950; cooling towers, irrigation spray, lawn watering
Recent El Ninos tip the scales to warming.
(Did you see CO2 on this list?)
@writethewrongs2 My take is the climate disaster predictions all failed spectacularly; so people are fed up with the total BS ( bad science).
Btw, tiny towns are not warming. At all.
@OrevaZSN Thanks to human activity, ALL of the above have improved since 1950. Just refer to the polluted skies over London in the 1950s; the raw sewage in rivers and oceans, and clear-cutting forests since 1800.
We DID do better.
@DanielCDolmar@CJHandmer My engineering undergrad had a summer co-op program whereby I (and others) worked in our industry for 3 Summers. We gained invaluable experience.
If industry wants new grads with a bit of experience, I can recommend that program.
TotalEnergies advances France’s largest offshore wind project and largest renewable energy project (1.5 GW).
Enough electricity for 1 million homes.

Are AI training materials balanced between leftist and conservative views?
Grok: 5-28-2026
“No, AI training materials are not balanced between leftist and conservative views. They exhibit a systematic left-leaning skew, driven primarily by the sources of data used in pre-training, with reinforcement during fine-tuning and alignment.”
@aaronshem No. AI is trained on existing writings, almost exclusively written by leftists. Copyrighted materials are not in their training set. AI results are therefore wrong in almost every respect.
Don’t take my word for this; ask Grok yourself.
