🔴 Ilham Ahmad at a press conference:
📌 We demand urgent intervention to stop the genocidal attacks against #Kurds in Syria.
📌 Al-Sharaa has not implemented any of the conditions for lifting sanctions on Syria.
📌 Kurds will not trust these forces, which include ISIS members
There we go! I don’t remember a time where the US had to worry about Kurds being unfriendly. @POTUS should probably understand what’s happening in Syria is not just about some “deal” involving the SDF, this is rightly viewed as an existential threat by many Kurds.
Pleased to meet with @presidentaz Ilham Aliyev at #WEF26. We agreed on the need to strengthen bilateral ties, particularly in investment and trade.
We discussed the situation in the region and in Syria, and I voiced my concern over the violence and military escalation.
Protests erupted across the Kurdistan Region and abroad Monday as Kurds rallied in support of Rojava, where renewed fighting, alleged abuses by Damascus-affiliated forces, and humanitarian fears fuel anger toward the US and calls for Kurdish unity.

Mohammad Abu al-Khair Shukri, Syria’s Endowment Minister, urged mosques to celebrate “conquests and victories” by Damascus-affiliated forces in eastern Syria, invoking the Quranic verse “Al-Anfal,” which many Kurds associate with the 1988 Anfal genocide under Saddam Hussein in Iraqi Kurdistan in which over 100,000 Kurds were killed.
What happened in NE Syria, at best, was paralyzing & terrifying 4 SDF, preparing ground for a total submission in next round of “talks”. A phone call when fighters were at Hasaka’s entrance! troves of alleged ISIS escaped, I don’t think reverses much in public perception of US.

US has repeatedly said its partnership with Kurds is limited to fighting ISIS! Well, now Kurds say they are repelling Govt. & ISIS attacks alone. Nothing from US, apart from empty statements from @LindseyGrahamSC
This will shape Kurdish public opinion for generations to come.
#BREAKING: Gregory Galligan, the Canadian Ambassador to Syria, emphasized that "all possible steps must be taken to avoid further violence in Syria," stressing that "restraint is urgently needed."
Conjures up memories of Kirkuk right before Baghdad's offensive. At the time armed citizens turned up in the streets but when the offensive came they weren't able to stop it.
Dutch MP @DonCeder: "I repeatedly asked the cabinet when the Kurds would be supported in detaining European IS fighters. Evasive answers followed.
This escalation has now also become a national security issue. The Christian Union (CU) has submitted questions."
If al‑Sharaa truly intends to grant Kurds their rights, why did he promote commanders with well‑documented records of abuse against Kurds?
Under his watch, armed groups are capturing Kurdish women and treating them as spoils of war, while detained Kurdish men are being dehumanized.
Was Al-Sharaa's presidential decree on Kurdish rights simply a pretext for this horrific assault?
Viewer discretion:
I understand the Kurdish alliance with the US was in the fight against ISIS. Now the US is in an alliance with these guys? The name is different, yes.
This was a poor exchange by both sides really. One ramification may be emboldening other leaders around the world, making them feel that a few promises to the White House can get their weaker adversaries yelled at in the Oval Office.
President Donald Trump writes that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "can come back when he's ready for peace" after a hostile Oval Office exchange between the two leaders https://t.co/K5lLCTsQSg
#BREAKING: SDF chief Mazloum Abdi tells Rudaw's @diyarkurda during an online presser that the jailed PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan's call for the PKK to lay down arms and dissolve itself is not related to the SDF.
However, he confirmed that they did receive a letter from Ocalan.
