@pythaginboots Has he ever been a CM? No, he's always been a roaming/wide AM. Main issue, lpool bought wirtz and a couple of dodgy full backs and keep trying to fit everything around this... Because of the wirtz money, they need to sell szobo and build around wirtz.

@TacticNotes Wirtz is an Enabler not a "Carrier". His ability relies on spatial chemistry, Iraola’s vertical chaos and static full-backs neutralize him. He must adapt like Ødegaard (drop deep to build) or KDB (embrace the chaos). He can't just wait and expect proven players to fit around him.

@TacticNotes The problem with this framing is, everything around wirtz has to be perfect. And everyone has to provide solutions for him, for that amount of money, you need to make it easier for my team.

@Ekitechy @LfcNuel Frimpong cannot have a future in the squad if you are serious in the epl. Szobo leaves in Jan or the summer if he has to cover at rb for much longer. It might cost more to mould the team for wirtz than to go in another direction.

@Ekitechy @LfcNuel The question really is, can szobo and wirtz start together without szobo playing right back? Also, frimpong... Lord help you. You are not short of goals, but your 2 full backs are just lightweight or off the pace.
You have a couple of transition seasons at least to go through.

@katsuxbt Brunson chose $156.5m now, plus the opportunity to reset his contract later, instead of maximising his guaranteed earnings immediately.
Now admittedly the only variables with downside are a significant decline in play or injuries, but the guy was born rich so he's not stressing.

@stephenk75 So what was the alternative, stay at Liverpool and do what exactly? He made the right decision to leave an ageing team when he did and you can't take away his accomplishments at Liverpool. After the fans turned on him he realises the only thing that really matters is the money.

@tobyasky Sometimes you can't leave a club peacefully, especially when you want to leave but the club don't want you to. The club then frames you as being difficult/selfish/unprofessional.... At that point things have to end acrimoniously.
