I want to build a meaningful life.
Step 1: become one of the best ad editors in Ecom.
Here's the plan:
My name is Romain, I'm a little French guy, 23 years old. (I'm too old for this shit)
At 19, I dropped out of college like a chad to live my dream: being an entrepreneur.
The problem is, it's been 4 years now, and ecom hasn't been kind to me.
So I only have $3,000 left in my bank account.
Yeah, I know, I'm broke af. But I'll fix that very soon.
I'm here to build two things: my business, and myself.
Here are the 3 steps:
Step 1=> become one of the best ad editors in ecom.
I'm learning to bring marketing to life by creating emotion through good editing.
For that, I'm inside the ONE, the ONLY, the NOTORIUS @ecomuniversity by @karlocreates.
The best community I've ever joined.
Step 2=> become one of the best creative strategists in ecom.
Not just editing the ad, but thinking it through: the research, the hook, the script.
For this one, I'll also take the creative strategy course at Ecom University by @KatPrefontaine
The goal is to get hired by a brand and learn from the inside.
Step 3=> buy a Lambo.
Kidding. I'm not gay, I want to build great things, not show off.
Step 3 will be to figure out if I want to create my own brand or build a goated marketing agency.
But guys, the REAL TEST starts in a few days.
The Ad Bounty program will (finally) be open to me.
So I'll make ads for brands, and the market will decide if they're good. (And I get paid 3.5% of the ad spend.)
Can I make a winning ad?
Maybe not right away. But in the next few weeks,
FOR SURE.
You'll see my whole journey here.
The goal is also to connect and to help a few people along the way, so feel free to DM me brotherrrrsss.
What I'm gonna post:
Every day, what's going through my mind.
What I learned, what drives me crazy, the questions I'm asking myself.
(I'm kind of an overthinker, so it won't be hard)
Every 2 or 3 days, a breakdown of a winning ad that reached millions of people, and why it works.
(That one's gonna be hard though)
And everything else that helps me move forward:
Copywriting, spirituality, sport, philosophy.
I'll talk about EVERYTHING here.
If you have any advice on the business or on how to document all this, feel free to roast me.
And if I'm wrong somewhere, tell me.
That's how I learn the most.
If you read this far, thank you. I won't let you down.
And if you’re interested, drop a follow.
Let's build now.
Day 1 of becoming a goated editor, then a goated creative strategist, then building my own goated brand.
First thing to do: make the title shorter.
Let's begin!!!
Yesterday was a shitty day, at least at the start. But because I'm a chad, I turned it into a good one.
Here's how:
I woke up a little late because I had a boxing session the evening before (got my ass kicked).
Training late releases a lot of cortisol, the stress hormone, so I struggled to fall asleep.
The first thing I did was open a new Claude session and tell him we needed to trench today.
Then I started the text-on-screen ad action item for DogFriendlyandCo. (iykyk)
Finding those clips of a crying dog and stuff was a big trench. In the middle of it, I grabbed my cup of coffee and BOOM, my back got locked.
At the same time, my head started asking questions.
-Why am I editing?
-Why edit when AI can do it?
-Why build an ecom brand?
-Can an ecom brand even change the world?
(Maybe I'm crazy, but I really want to change it for the better)
And I was struggling to find my zone of genius, the place where I'll be able to change it.
When your why isn't clear enough, you can't work.
You don't even know why you're working.
So I stopped everything and thought for like an hour: why am I doing this?
My conclusion: to change the world, I first need money and skills. So let's go.
Pretty simple, but I needed the reminder.
Instantly, a big shot of dopamine hit me. I stood up and cracked my back on that torture device in the picture.
It hurt, but it felt good after.
And just like that, I was back in front of my screen, pumped af, with my momentum back.
By the end of the day, I'd finished this action item and was about to finish another one. The shitty day became a good one.
(The AI question deserves its own post. I have a call about it today, more on that soon.)
So here's what I learned:
If you want to work like a damn psycho, you need a very strong why.
And you have to keep your momentum alive no matter the cost!
Question for you: I write these the morning after, so I can see my day more clearly. Should I write them the same evening instead?
Romain.
@a1dan296@talon_layman Yeah, me too bro. I think the difference is the feeling of physically tapping the thing. An app blocker just isn’t as sexy in that sense.
@talon_layman@hopeunfilteredd I don’t know you well, but thank you for sharing that with us—it’s very inspiring. You seem like a very good guy, and it’s always a great pleasure to see good guys winning at life. Thank you, man!

Let's build now.
@scaling_rn Rn I’m following the EcomUni course, so for now I’ve been editing UGC ads, text on screen ads, AI VO ads and organic ads. The next one is a VSL so wish me luck haha. And soon AI ads 🔥
I went from a broke gaming addict to helping 61 Ecom brands hit their first $100k/day.
⠀
But growing up I was average at everything.
⠀
School, sports, you name it.
⠀
Never thought getting rich was possible for a kid like me.
⠀
Then I saw a YouTube video of a kid making $1M online at 17.
⠀
Figured if I made even 10% of that, I'd already be a top 5% earner in my country.
⠀
So I went all in on dropshipping, but I only had $500 and didn't have the cashflow to keep going.
⠀
My dad gave me 3 months to make it work, or I needed to get a loan to go to a traditional university. Really didn't want that.
⠀
So I learned FB ads from a course. Spent a few weeks spamming Upwork proposals, cold DMing people, even applying for VA jobs.
⠀
Landed a media buying job at $4-5k/mth. I was making $400/mth selling vacuums for Dyson before that.
⠀
10x'd my income at 18. Big money for a kid from Malaysia.
⠀
A year later I teamed up with Spencer. We thought we were hot sh*t. Our first client was spending a few thousand a day. Threw every strategy I had at it.
⠀
They fired us within weeks. My salary went from $4-5k a month down to $1-2k.
⠀
Took me 2 more years to figure out what I was missing.
⠀
My thing wasn't the media buying. It was creative strategy. Knowing what makes an ad actually sell.
⠀
Then that same client came back.
This time I edited one video for them. It became a winning ad and we finally scaled them.
⠀
That's when I found my Zone of Genius.
⠀
The kid who was average at school, sports, everything finally found the one thing he was actually good at.
⠀
Since then that one skill has helped 61 brands hit their first $100k/day. We even scaled a brand to $800k/day on Black Friday.
⠀
If I'd never found it, I'd have burned years and a lot more money on a skill I wasn't built for.
⠀
Most people go their whole life without finding their Zone of Genius.
⠀
That's exactly what @ecomuniversity is for.
Video editing, graphic design, creative strategy, media buying, content creation, with more coming. Find the one you're built for and go all in.
⠀
My partners @spencepawliw and @karlocreates have been locked in on this all year.
⠀
It just went live. Find your Zone of Genius 👇
