Finally, we show how the Fréchet parameter, which governs banking path complexity, shapes the response, together with relative banking efficiency. This speaks to the policy debate on banking unions.

FINANCIAL FRAGMENTATION
We can study *edge* (bilateral) shocks! What does fragmentation imply if you have indirect paths? A tradeoff emerges: while indirect paths help subsitute ex-post, they reduce ex-ante ability to provide alternative sourcing.
