KINGDOM FINANCE PRINCIPLES: THE PURPOSE OF GODLY LABOUR

Ephesians 4:28 (KJV): “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.”

Many people think working is just about making money so they can take care of themselves. But that’s not God’s full picture.

According to our theme scripture, God wants us to work so that we can be a blessing to others.

Godly labour is not selfish. It’s not about acquiring material possessions or just chasing wealth. It’s about doing something good with your hands so that you can be an answer to someone else’s prayer.

Think about it like this: When you give someone food, pay someone’s school fees, or help a friend who’s struggling, it’s not just kindness, it’s the fruit of godly labour.

So don’t just dream of a big career or a successful business just for you. Dream of a life that touches others. Ask yourself: “What can I do with my skills, my job, or my business to help someone else?”

Start building a lifestyle where giving and making a difference in someone’s life is a mindset. Hallelujah!

FAMILY SERIES: PRAY WITH YOUR CHILDREN

Proverbs 22:6 (KJV): “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Some Christian parents love God and go to church each week, but while at home, they don’t pray with their children. They pray alone, and the children only hear about prayer from the pastor or Sunday school teacher.

If you’re a parent, one of the greatest things you can do is build a prayer habit with your children. Even just a few minutes every night can make a huge difference.

Imagine this: Every night before bed, the family gathers, and you pray together. Some nights, you can lead the prayer. Other nights, let your children take turns. Maybe today it's one child, tomorrow it's the other. This simple habit teaches your children how to talk to God. It shows them that prayer is not just for “old people”, it’s for them too.

When you do so, you plant seeds that will affect them for a lifetime. When they face hard times in the future, they’ll remember that they can run to God. They’ll know how to pray because they learned it with you.

Don’t assume they’ll figure it out when they grow older. Start now. Make prayer a normal part of children’s life at home.

FAMILY SERIES: IT BEGINS AT HOME

We live in a time where some parents have handed over their God-given role to raise their children to househelps, teachers, and even the internet. But the truth is that no one should replace the daily influence of a parent or guardian over a child.

You are the priest in your home. That means God expects you to be the first voice of truth your child hears, the first example of prayer they see, and the first teacher of the Word in their life. Church should not be your child’s only place of spiritual instruction—it should be a place that builds on what you are already doing at home.

When you fail to take this role seriously, the world will take your place. The media will teach your child what to believe, and the internet will shape their values.

If you have been absent as a parent, it’s time to stop outsourcing what God called you to do.

Set aside some time to read the Bible with your children, pray with them, or talk about what God means to you. Be present. Be intentional. Don’t wait for someone else to do what God has asked of you.

FAMILY SERIES: THE POWER OF PRAYER IN YOUR HOME

Joshua 24:15 (NKJV): “...But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

​Every home has a spiritual atmosphere. You can feel it the moment you walk through the door. Some homes have a heavy, tense atmosphere, perhaps from constant harsh words or mistrust. Other homes feel peaceful and welcoming.

​So, what is the atmosphere of your home like? This daily devotion reminds us that one of the most powerful things that defines a home's atmosphere is prayer. When you establish a strong foundation of prayer in your home, you create a spiritual shield that protects against negative influences.

​When a home is saturated in prayer, even arguments and disagreements lose their power. The energy that comes with a dispute is dispelled, replaced by the peace that prayer brings. Prayer also has a powerful effect on children. In a home with a strong altar of prayer, there are certain things children simply won't do, certain habits they won't pick up, and certain friends they won't bring home. The atmosphere of prayer can tame even the wildest urges in a child.

​As a family, make it a habit to immerse your home in prayer. Speak God's truth over everything in your house—from the television to the kitchenware to the beds. When you do this, your home will radiate with a powerful presence that visitors will immediately sense. They will know they are entering a place set apart by God. Hallelujah!

FAMILY SERIES: TRAIN UP A CHILD: DISCIPLINE

Proverbs 22:6 (KJV): Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

The Hebrew word for train up is chanak which means to initiate, dedicate and to discipline.

In today's devotion, I want to lay emphasis on discipline as part of training up a child.

The first five to seven years of a child's life are crucial for shaping their obedience and responsiveness to instruction. This is the stage where children learn how to receive and obey commands. If a child does not learn obedience in these formative years, it becomes increasingly difficult to correct their behavior later.

I once observed a parent calling their three-year-old child multiple times, but the child ignored them. Instead of addressing the disobedience, the parent chased after them, turning it into a game.

No, your child must be taught to obey your voice. When you say ‘come’, the child should be trained to respond. When you tell them not to do something, they must know you mean it.

If the situation calls for the rod of correction, use it wisely. A parent must discipline with a clear mind, not out of blind anger. The Bible says in Proverbs 23:13-14 (NLT), “Don’t fail to discipline your children. The rod of punishment won’t kill them. Physical discipline may well save them from death.”

Some children who were never disciplined became menaces to their parents in adulthood, insulting and even beating them up.

As a parent, it is your divine duty to discipline your children. Teach your children to listen to you, honour the voice of God and to respect anybody older than them, including an older sibling.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for entrusting me with children to raise in Your ways. Thank You for wisdom, patience, and diligence to train them in obedience and honor. May their hearts be tender to instruction, and may they learn to revere You above all. Help me, as parent and guardian, to model the discipline and honor I desire to see in them. THE TRIAL OF YOUR FAITH III

2 Corinthians 4:17 (KJV): For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

Every trial of your faith is preparation for your next level.

God allows your faith to be tested not just to measure your endurance but because He desires to promote and elevate you to higher realms of responsibility, grace, and power.

When speaking to Simon about his test, Jesus said, "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers" (Luke 22:31-32 NLT). This test positioned Simon to become a source of strength for his brethren.

Similarly, after Abraham was tested with the command to sacrifice his son, the Lord declared,
"By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;" (Genesis 22:16-17).

Whenever you find yourself in a trial or tough situation that challenges your faith, rejoice in what lies ahead. Understand that you are about to be elevated to a new level and experience greater glory.

Do not cower in self-pity. Instead, laugh at the situation and say, "Oh, Lord, I thank You for the amazing things You have in store for me. This situation is only temporary. I expect a far greater weight of glory—more increase, more favour, and greater expansion. Hallelujah!" That is the mindset of a believer!

FAMILY SERIES: TRAIN UP A CHILD - INAUGURATION (FIRST WORDS)

Proverbs 22:6 (KJV): Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

The Hebrew word for train in our theme scripture is chanak, which is translated, among other things, to mean inaugurate.

What we regard as the birth of a child is actually a transition from one world into another. In the world the child formerly existed—the world of the womb—the baby had parts that made up their person, but these were not exercised. For instance, the child had eyes but could not see, and a nose but could not breathe through it.

When the child transitions into the physical world, they must begin to exercise these body parts to function in this new realm. This world has its own laws and principles, and that child must be inaugurated, initiated, or oriented into it.

One of the principal methods of inauguration is through the first words a child hears during infancy. In Luke 2, we see Simeon speaking into the life of Jesus. He was inaugurating Him, declaring, among other things, that He was “a light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of Israel” (Luke 2:32).

Parents, the moment your child is born, welcome them into the world with words of life and blessing. Declare that they are entering a world of possibility, power, influence, affluence, grace, and peace. Speak over them, affirming that violence will be far from them, and the wicked and unreasonable will not come near them.

Tell them that God will favor them, that the wealth of kings is theirs. Declare that they will be great on the earth and wiser than all their peers. Tell them that Jesus is Lord and that He died for their salvation. Preach that first sermon to your child.

Even when you visit a friend or relative who has given birth, take the opportunity to speak words of blessing over the newborn. This is the act of inauguration—setting their path through the power of your words.

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this Word. By this wisdom, I align the destinies of my children. I declare Your promises over their lives and direct their paths through the power of my confession. Thank You for bestowing upon me the divine authority to influence their futures. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS II

Matthew 15:14 (KJV): “Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”

Spiritual blindness can also stem from following blind guides.

I have seen Christians “fall into ditches” because they listened to someone who had poor spiritual sight.

I once shared the story of a woman who had a dream about her wedding but, in the dream, she could not see the face of her groom. When she sought the interpretation of the dream from a man of God, he told her it meant she was about to die and should put her house in order. She believed this word, and a few years later, she succumbed to cancer.

This tragic incident is a sobering example of a blind woman following a blind man.

This issue extends to doctrine as well. Many people remain blind to the truths of the scriptures because of the teachings they have followed for years. Often, their teachers lacked the proper revelation of certain truths, and their followers accepted the teachings without ever searching the scriptures for themselves.

Malachi 2:8 speaks of priests who caused many to stumble by their instructions. This happened then, and it continues to happen today.

For this reason, the importance of reading the Bible for yourself cannot be overstated. Submitting to a sound teacher of the Word is crucial, but it is not enough. You must adopt the Berean spirit—returning to what has been taught, digging deeper for more enlightenment, and allowing God to reveal the full counsel of the Word you have received.

PRAYER: My Father, I thank You for this Word. I am grateful for the precious Holy Spirit, who leads me into all truth. You have placed sound ministers in my life to teach me, but Lord, help me to cultivate the discipline of personal study of Your Word. May the Spirit of revelation work mightily in me, opening the eyes of my understanding to comprehend Your deep truths. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS I

2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV): In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Spiritual blindness manifests in many forms.

One of these occurs when the Word of God is veiled. There are truths God expects you to see through the scriptures when you read them, but spiritual blindness can prevent this understanding.

This type of blindness is evident in people who struggle to understand the Bible. I have heard Christians complain that the Bible is too difficult to comprehend. Some even dismiss and reject its truths because of this. What many fail to realise is that they are dealing with a form of spiritual blindness. Rather than reject God’s Word, your prayer should be for God to open your eyes. This was David’s prayer in Psalm 119:18, where he said, “Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.”

Another aspect of spiritual blindness is the inability to discern God’s specific message for your life through the scriptures. The Bible is not just a general text—it is a blueprint for your individual future.

You do not necessarily need a prophet to reveal things specific to your life. Hebrews 1:1-2 tells us that in the past, God spoke to our fathers through prophets, but in these last days, He speaks to us through His Son.

It takes spiritual sight to recognise your unique message in the words spoken by Jesus. What may seem like a general scripture can, through divine revelation, reveal personal insights about your journey, destiny, and mandate. Pray for God to open your eyes to see these wondrous truths. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY: Psalm 119:18; Ephesians 1:18

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this Word. The Bible calls me to live and walk in the Spirit, and I cannot do that while spiritually blind. Today, You open my eyes to see what I could not see before. For the things I can already see, I thank You for sharpening my vision so I perceive them with even greater clarity. I rejoice in Your Word as one who has found treasure because my spiritual sight is clear. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

WATCH AND PRAY: THE TRUE STATE OF YOUR HEART

Revelation 3:1-3 (KJV): And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

One of the key factors that affect how effectively we watch in the spirit is understanding the true state of where we stand with God.

The church at Sardis was rebuked for thinking they were alive while they were, in reality, spiritually dead. The Lord urged them to be watchful and to strengthen what remained, that which was ready to die. If they failed to watch, He warned that He would come upon them like a thief in the night.

Knowing your true state before God is vital to how you watch and then pray because a person who understands their position in Him will pray honestly and sincerely from the heart.

In Luke 18:9-14, Jesus contrasts two individuals: a repentant tax collector and a self-righteous Pharisee. The tax collector had examined the true state of his heart, whereas the Pharisee was blinded by his self-righteousness. The tax collector went home justified before God, while the Pharisee did not.

Acknowledging an issue and taking it before God is far better than believing you are without fault and approaching Him with falsehood in your spirit.

Learn to humble yourself before God, allowing Him to weigh and examine the state of your heart. This humility will empower you to watch effectively, even as you pray.

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this word. Thank You for the wisdom to watch and the humility to break before You, allowing You to examine my heart. Your Word says that You will not reject a contrite spirit. This is what I bring before You today, trusting that You will deal with me in ways only You can. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
