Wishing all our A Level historians the very best for their exam tomorrow morning. We have every confidence in you - and unlike the Duke of Buckingham, our confidence is well placed.
Thank you @HeatherLaws88 for a really useful @histassoc session on teaching A-Level History. Some great suggested strategies, particularly as building independence is something we have been working on. Looking forward to the next webinar!
Very pleased to receive this from @histassoc today. Really great CPD that I would thoroughly recommend. I’ve been a HoD for years but I think I’m a better one now, having completed the programme. Thanks to @HughJRichards,@CatPriggs and the other course leaders for their guidance.
@HistoryExtra Did any groups/areas prosper? How was the famine viewed by contemporaries in England? How typical was the response from Westminster? Can the Famine be seen as a turning point in the development of nationalism in Ireland? Did it change Anglo-Irish relations?
Highly recommend this to any HoD or aspiring HoD - I only wish it had been available when I first took on the role. Practical guidance that you can act upon immediately that will have a positive impact on both you&your dept. Been a great boost for both my confidence & enthusiasm!
Booking now OPEN for all *three* @histassoc Subject Leader Development Programme cohorts this year! More info in the video, thread and via the link below.
Well done to our A-Level historians who received their results yesterday. Mrs Renyard, Mrs Hanley and the rest of the History team are incredibly proud of you and wish you all the very best for the future.
@CatPriggs @histassoc Thank you for leading, it was really interesting to hear different experiences of the role, it’s given me even more to think about!
@MrsBallAP@elizabday Thank you for writing such an honest piece. It is reassuring to know that I’m not alone, I can relate to everything you’ve written. Mum guilt and teacher guilt combined are the worst!
@Tobias_Ellwood My brother did not&this added considerably to the pre-deployment stress for his family. Thank you for highlighting this as an important issue. Also worth noting the issues around quarantine which leaves individuals isolating alone despite living in close quarters whilst deployed.
Thank you for a great live session @MsKerryApps, I’m glad I’m not the only one taking any and every opportunity to include Irish history but I’ve still got plenty of work to do. Will be doing the historical Bechdel test! #haconf21@histassoc
Really pleased I was able to catch the live session from @Sesc_Cam on secondary education & social change since 1945, it is just what our KS3 needs. Fascinating research that brings the work of the historian into the classroom alongside content pupils can relate to #haconf21
Great cake-fuelled discussions about changes to our KS3 curriculum with my lovely Y13 classes before they leave this week. The insight they offered has given me plenty to think about. Thanks to @SPBeale for sharing the idea.
@claramason77 @HeatherLaws88 Sometimes it’s the small things that make a difference. I’m finally feeling enthusiastic about the interpretation question!
Really interesting follow up to @HeatherLaws88’s session on using interpretations. Love the idea of using historian’s photos. Always grateful for new approaches as my A-Level students often struggle with this one. #haconf21
