10 Nuggets on the Power of Seeking Help in Academia
Academia is tough, but you're not in it alone. Asking for help sounds simple but it's something many people struggle with. Here's why asking for help is not just okay, but essential.

@gizlepez 👋Mon conjoint s'appelle Amiel. Quand j'avais regardé sur Internet il y en avait 60 en France... je m'étais dit que j'organiserais une convention d'Amiels, jamais pu concrétiser le projet mais j'adore l'idée de la soirée de Gisèle 😁
@kommissarkletus@ask_aubry Same goes for men, or pro-life pregnant women families. Many are pro-life but still encourage abortion when they personally face the unplanned pregnancy of their girlfriend/daughter. You were saying "hypocrites"?
@kommissarkletus@ask_aubry "Unfortunately, many also think that somehow they are different than everyone else and they deserve to have an abortion, while no one else does.” (Physician, Washington State)"
@ask_aubry It actually happens very often, and many of these people do get an abortion. They just use the "Yes but in my case it was different, I really did not have any other choice" magic-trick to get over it.

@giuliaevolvi@AcademicChatter The one that comes to my mind is "Breaking RAD: an evaluation of the utility of restriction site associated DNA sequencing for genome scans of adaptation". And I remember the response paper's title starting as "Unbroken: [...]" 😁
I am searching for an example of a #mammal study (not human or animal breeding related) that makes use of a long-term #pedigree and a #reference#genome AND has whole-genome #resequencing data available, ideally for >2000 individuals. Does this exist? 😅 Pls retweet. 🙏🧬
@AcademicChatter This, exactly! Seems legit but actually is so difficult... allowing yourself to write badly. Also, allow yourself to understand badly... e.g when reading. I need no less than 4-5 reads, including one read several weeks later, to properly and fully understand a paper.
Nous avons vécu un moment historique avec la première image du télescope spatial James Webb. Le télescope, à 1.5 millions de kilomètres de nous nous montre l'Univers tel qu'il était...il y a 13 milliards d'années. Thread rapide👇
Very bad news today: climate change fueled wildfires are causing a release of massive amounts of carbon monoxide which is reacting with hydroxyl radicals, leaving less hydroxyl to oxidize atmospheric methane, creating a feedback loop driving even faster methane growth.
