From DMV fee hikes and tolling to congestion pricing and delivery fees, Salem seems determined to work around voters’ answer.

The War on Business Backfires in Portland… Instead of asking how to attract good jobs, Democrat politicians declared war on employers. They piled on regulations, made permits nearly impossible to get, and raised taxes again and again. Democrats seem to believe businesses have magical money trees that can absorb infinite punishment.

Just a reminder that Oregon has a Democrat Supermajority and they have filed so many lawsuits against Trump that we have lost count, so any policies that have ruined this state land squarely on them.

Fear mongering.

Abortion is already codified in Oregon statute.

It is legal at every stage.

A governor cannot ban it.

For Christine Drazan to ban abortion she would need all of the following:

1. A Republican (or willing) majority in the House and Senate to pass a repeal of ORS 435.210 / HB 2002 and the 2017 Reproductive Health Equity Act.

2. The votes to survive a veto — or Drazan signing the bill herself.

3. Or a successful statewide ballot measure rewriting those statutes.

Oregon has never had a Republican trifecta.

Democrats still hold both chambers.

Drazan’s own record is that she would “follow existing law” and that she supports third-trimester limits — not a total ban by executive fiat.

Kotek is running the 2022 play again: treat a settled statute as if one election erases it.

It doesn’t.

I often wonder what Democrats running for state office are offering Oregonians beyond promises and campaign talking points.

Oregon continues to face serious challenges under a party system that has controlled Oregon’s government for some time:

•Students struggling in reading, math, and science
•Businesses dealing with taxes, regulations, and rising operating costs
•Low workforce participation and persistent unemployment
•Increasing electricity, housing, food, and transportation costs
•A continuing homelessness crisis
•Serious financial pressure on hospitals and healthcare providers
•Rural communities feeling ignored by decision-makers in Salem
•A state government that continues spending more without consistently delivering better results

These Democratic policies did not appear overnight, and more of the same won’t fix Oregon’s issues. But Oregon’s elected Democrats should still be held accountable for the policies they support and the results those policies produce.

So, my question is: Why vote another Democrat into office?

Oregonians should expect more than slogans. They deserve specific plans, measurable goals, and leaders willing to admit when current policies are not working.

That is the conversation we should be having because more of the same isn’t working.

In 2001-2003 Oregon's budget was $34 Billion:
32% for education
25% for social programs
12% for infrastructure
12% for administration
6% for public safety
13% for everything else

The 2025-27 budget was $140 Billion, over four times higher:
18% for education
45% for social programs
7.5% for infrastructure
14% for administration
5% for public safety
10.5% for everything else

Focus on the money they are giving away: In 2001-03, Oregon spent $8.5 Billion, 25% of its budget, on social programs. In 2025-27, they are spending $62.7 Billion, 45% of the budget on social programs. That is 7 times as much and almost half the budget on handouts. The “Healthier Oregon” portion of the OHP spends $1.3 Billion and offers free medical for illegal migrants. They spent $60,000 on “homeless services” per homeless person in 2024, and the homeless count rose anyway.
Oregon schools fell to the bottom of the US reading and math scores. To fix the poor graduation rates, they passed a law that students don’t need to prove proficiency to graduate.

This doesn’t seem like they are addressing poverty or poor education; they are building an empire of permanent dependency with themselves in charge . With that their campaign strategy is, “Vote for us or the Republicans will take away your benefits!”

Kotek can’t blame Oregon’s money troubles on Trump. Democrats have controlled Oregon politics this whole time, even as the Federal government has flipped party control 5 times!

Governor Kotek wants Oregonians to blame President Trump for a proposed $250 million Bonneville Power Administration rate increase.

But here’s the part she leaves out:

After the federal agreement ended, Kotek publicly backed Oregon’s return to court. The State of Oregon then asked for increased water spill over eight Columbia and Snake River dams, the very action that reduced hydropower generation and increased costs.

Now BPA wants ratepayers to cover the bill.

Kotek supported the policy. Oregon pursued the court order. But when the consequences arrived, she blamed Trump.

Oregonians deserve affordable, reliable electricity and leaders who take responsibility for the costs of their own policies.

“Oregon Election Clerks are Duped!”

If you speak to your county election clerk (in EVERY state, not just Oregon), they will assure you you that they are in control of their country voter rolls. They are wrong.

They merely diddle at the edges.

The vast majority of changes in voter rolls is happening centrally, at the state level, and the clerks are unaware of most of it because they do not keep snapshots over time of their rolls so that they can compare.

I DO keep snapshots.

The clerks are duped, and merely repeat what they are told by the state clerk associations.

Whenever I speak to clerks and show them THEIR OWN data, they finally have to admit that they have to “trust the state.”

QED.

The clerks are not in control of the voter rolls, not to mention the fact that the rest of the election process is also out of their control, like the tabulation and the reporting.

In the upcoming November election, if any clerk allows non-citizens to vote in their election, the DoJ will prosecute, and they are going to prison.

Seems unfair, putting someone in prison for something out of their control. But they’ve been duly warned, and offered help from me and DoJ. They are without excuse.

Why aren’t our children singing this today?

Because our churches have forgotten that we are engaged in a real war between good and evil, and that Satan is in league with communism. That our enemies are using slow and incremental tactics to subvert the truth, while our affluence has enabled us to become distracted and complacent.

Our churches have forgotten that our country was founded and successful because of biblical principles and the moral and political leadership by our churches.

It is no accudent that the first thing communism seeks to undermine in a free society is its churches.

The Black-Robe Regiment led our revolution.

It’s time for our churches to wake up and step up.

If your church won’t engage this war, then it is complicit.

When I retired from teaching four years ago, my principal was begging me to stay because we were already in the middle of a teacher shortage.

That same year, at least 30 of us left teaching altogether.

Thirty teachers gone.

We were told there wasn’t enough money to give teachers a raise, but somehow there was enough money to hire more than 40 new people in central office—every one of those positions paying more than the teachers in the classroom.

Make that make sense.

Twice, at two different schools, I was encouraged to go back and get my master’s in educational leadership so I could become an assistant principal.

I declined both times.

My heart was never in climbing the administrative ladder. My heart was in the classroom with my students. That was where I belonged, and I knew it.

The problem is not that good teachers don’t exist. The problem is that central offices have become bloated bureaucracies built around higher salaries, unnecessary positions and, far too often, the good ol’ boy system.

They keep adding people at the top while taking more away from the teachers doing the actual work.

Then they look around and ask why nobody wants to teach anymore.

They know why.

They just don’t want to admit it.

Just a few months ago, more than 83% of Oregon voters rejected Measure 120 — the transportation package that would have increased the gas tax, vehicle title and registration fees, and the statewide transit payroll tax.

Oregonians put in the work to refer these increases to the ballot, and voters across the political spectrum overwhelmingly said NO.

Yet here we are again…

ODOT is now compiling an extensive list of potential new taxes and fees to address another transportation funding shortfall. The list includes taxes or increases involving tires, rental cars, rideshare trips, new vehicles, cigarettes, cannabis, wine and beer, studded tires, retail deliveries and DMV fees — even tolling and an emissions-trading system!

At this point, these are just options being analyzed, not proposals that have been adopted. But Tina Kotek’s transportation workgroup will be reviewing funding options as it prepares recommendations for the 2027 legislative session.

This is the fundamental difference we keep seeing in Salem. Republicans have pushed to prioritize spending, find savings and work within the budget we already have. Democrats continue looking for more revenue to fund an ever-growing government — and ultimately, that money comes from YOU.

Oregonians are already struggling with the cost of living. We don’t need another tax, another fee or another creative way to make everyday life more expensive.

This is why we HAVE TO VOTE in November.

It’s not enough to complain about the decisions coming out of Salem.

We have an opportunity this November to change the balance of power in Oregon and elect leaders who will fight to make this state MORE affordable — not less.

In Oregon 1/3 of adults are on Medicaid and nearly 1/2 of Oregon’s children.

Unemployment is 2nd highest in the nation.

These are signs of a failed state, not a prosperous one.
