My dear client. He sat beside me when I told his story to the Inquiry. I feel numb at his passing. He suffered so much and endured tremendous grief. He was stoical but marked by tragedy. Those malignants who put him through all this are beneath contempt.
Ramsgate Marina Bathing Pool, Kent (1935–1975)
Top: 1968 — an Art Deco seawater lido built into the seafront.
Bottom: Today — the same footprint, now a car park.
Opened in 1935, it shut after the 1975 season when serious structural faults were found in the pool floor—and it never reopened.
Half a century later, the site is still remembered as one of Ramsgate’s lost summer landmarks (and there’s even talk in the air about a possible comeback).
