Exactly what needs to be said. The left has given up tangible improvements for the majority of the population in favor of winning peanuts on fringe issues (looking at you Portland City Council).
It’s time to get back in the arena with high-visibility, trust-building policy.
🚨 At the U20 Mayors Summit, Mamdani Says the Left Has Ceded “Quality of Life,” “Efficiency,” and “Fraud and Waste” to the Right
This was one of the more interesting arguments Zohran Mamdani made today at the U20 Mayors Summit, and a reminder that he can be genuinely sharp when he drops the “central casting” routine.
“In New York City, there are certain words that have taken on ideological associations.”
“Quality of life has come to be seen as somehow a right-wing concern. Efficiency… has been taken on as a right-wing concern, rooting out fraud and waste, a right-wing concern.”
Mamdani’s argument is that refusing to engage those issues actually helps the Right.
“If you are staring at an example of social disorder or social inefficiency, and the left refuses to explain either why it has happened or how they will fix it, then the right gets to point at someone in the immediate area and say, ‘That’s who did it.’”
The harder question is how much of the broader Left is actually prepared to follow the advice.
Nobody asked for this, but here are some of our favorite facts about U.S. state flags:
Oregon is the only state with a two-sided flag.
The front shows the state seal, and the reverse shows the state animal: a beaver. 🧵⬇️
New cat alert! A call from a wildlife sanctuary about a "weird cat" has led to the first new cat species discovered in over 100 years in Bolivia’s Yungas forest ecoregion. Learn more about this feline surprise: https://t.co/crffXvPqH4
@zmievam I’d argue we grew up in a much less surveillance state-esque environment. I was allowed to go out alone, walk myself to school, etc. from age 8 without a phone. These kids will be monitored for every second of their lives and won’t know what to do when help isn’t magically there
In a gated neighborhood… Our children are doomed if they can’t experience any independence even in the most controlled situation. Helicopter parenting from the state raises a generation that won’t be able to think for themselves let alone be contributing members of society.
Virginia Mom Gets 6-Month Suspended Jail Sentence for Letting 5-Year-Old Walk to the Pond
Mom, 8 months pregnant, takes a little bike ride with her son, 5, in their gated community. Back home he asks if he can go out again, on foot, to get some more feathers from the grass near the goose pond. She says sure. He knows his way around, and she has watched him cross the quiet streets safely a hundred times.
But then, someone sees the boy unsupervised and calls security.
Pretty soon there are three cop cars at Karyann's door, and two caseworkers.
The caseworkers put her on the child abuse and neglect registry (for 7 years).
The cops charge her with "Contributing to the delinquency of a minor," and a judge finds her guilty.

@r0scbergsz Would actually love you forever if I could get a copy, had it bookmarked and it was my comfort re-read, and I didn’t realize all this was going on until it was too late…😞
On July 4, 2026, Democratic Socialists of America passed 120,000 members, making us the largest socialist organization in United States history and surpassing the Socialist Party of America under Eugene Debs, which reached its peak dues-paying membership in 1912.

If you don’t remember the way it felt when gay marriage was legalized, if you can’t name where you were and what you were doing when that decision dropped, then you should not speak on it. It is far too fresh for nonsense takes.
