Audi is investing a historic $4 billion to build its FIRST-EVER production facility in the United States. 🇺🇸
President Trump is bringing auto manufacturing back to American soil through tariffs and pro-growth production polices. And the results are showing.
This man has 6 children, with a 7th on the way. This is as heart-rending as it is unsurprising.
Josh Duggar is in the position he is in because he was enabled and protected from consequences at every step by his revolting parents and their patriarchal, dehumanizing theology.
Can you imagine saying ‘I believe you’ to someone that has just survived a car crash, cancer, or any other horrific event? How insulting would that be? Why is it considered a magnanimous gesture for sexual assault survivors? Why do we expect them to be grateful for this?
We’ve set the bar so low for what ‘supporting a survivor’ means that literally just saying ‘I don’t think you’re lying’ is seen as a gift. Survivors deserve so much more than that.
Pastors who abuse their flock, and those that cover for them, have permanently disqualified themselves from the pulpit. That's it. That's the tweet. #ChurchToo
It's a battle to get Twitter to take any real action on child sexual abuse material. Natalie Walker @partnerspeak, @GingerGorman , @JoshBBornstein and I on Twitter's abject child protection failures. https://t.co/HcYbCkXsxB
Abusive systems will condemn you for calling them to give an account for their harmful behavior. Such a response puts YOU on the defensive and asks YOU to be the one to give an account for YOUR behavior. They change the focus and control the conversation by reframing the problem.
I don't know how many times I have to say this, but here goes..
..the sexual molestation and RAPE of children is NOT just a Southern Baptist or Catholic problem.
Its not limited to youth sports in gymnastics, wrestling or swimming.
It is a PERVASIVE, HUMAN PROBLEM...PERIOD!!!
“In keeping silent about evil, in burying it so deep within us that no sign of it appears on the surface, we are implanting it, and it will rise up a thousandfold in the future . . . thereby ripping the foundations of justice from beneath new generations.”
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
A tragic betrayal occurs when a person is abused by someone in a position of trust.
Trust, once seen as a bridge of connection, transforms into a wall of captivity as the victim realizes getting help will require belief from a community that still views the abuser as believable.
Church leaders who speak empathetic words and make empty promises without substantive and self-sacrificing actions are exploiting and re-victimizing the abuse survivors who still have hope that the church will do “the right thing”.
Abusers who charm are not people of kindness but merchants of niceness.
Like merchants who demand money in return for goods, abusers demand compliance in exchange for favor.
This is why charm transforms into intimidation the moment you become a threat or a demand is not met.
Abusive communities shut down stories before they can even be told.
“I’m going to stop you right there.”
“Are you sure you want to tell me this?”
“Why don’t we do this another time?”
There are those who won’t believe you, and then there are those who won’t even hear you.
