Tomorrow (7 Nov) at 2pm, we're invited by @LabWiseman @scrippsresearch to present "Review Commons: The New Culture of Peer Review" to the Dept of Molecular & Cellular Biology in the Molecular Biology building at Scripps Research, La Jolla. Find us in the committee lecture hall.
If you are at the #EESMicrobiome poster session then go check out Quinten's poster (#084) for tips on profiling carbohydrate-active enzymes in microbiomes.
It was so inspiring to meet Lakshmi Goyal at the #EESMicrobiome , the editor-in-chief of 23 years at @cellhostmicrobe. Her words of wisdom on how to seek out opportunities to learn and grow will definitely stay with me. Goosebumps🤩🤩🤩🤩
Always a pleasure for @ReviewCommons to run into Lavinia Arseni @arseni_lavinia the reviews editor of FEBS letters. Enjoyed our time together at the #EESMicrobiome. Looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Half-time report from #EESMicrobiome 2023 with @nsegata@BorkLab Ami S Bhatt
Highlights for me so far:
➡️ Who needs splicing when you have invertases - Ami
➡️ Rational design of synthetic communities @Honda1Kenya
➡️ Unsaturated LCFAs as therapy for bacterial vaginosis @mzhu_ology
Day 3 of @ReviewCommons at #EESMicrobiome
REMINDER- We have the MEET THE EDITORS session today at 12:30. Anyone at the conference, who wants to know about the @ReviewCommons Pre-print Peer-Review Platform at EMBO- just come find me 😃. Looking forward to meeting some of you!
The session ended with an explosive talk by Moran Yassour @MoranYassour who showed that HMOs from formula/breast milk does not modulate Bifidobacterium in the infant gut and that vaginal seeding does not work for infant gut Bacteroides
Meilin Zhu @mzhu_ology showing us how oleic acid could be therapeutic in bacterial vaginosis by antagonizing the bad Lactobacilli species (L. iners) in the vaginal microbiome. Super intriguing✌️✌️✌️
Jakob Wirbel @JakobWirbel ex-colleague and currently in @AmiBhattMD group showed us about the AWI-Gen project- Great initiative bringing the African microbiomes into the big picture. Kudos to the effort👏👏👏👏👏👏
Mireia Valles-Colomer @MireiaVallescThere showed us that there is more than love ❤️ that you share within a household - also your microbiome. Not just mums, but daddies play a very important role is supplementing the microbiome of infants (especially in C-sec births)👏👏👏
Superb talk by Maria Collado @mcarmen_collado on neonatal microbiome differences in c-sec Vs home-birth babies and effect of maternal diet on breast-milk microbiota. Check this out: Ethiopian mums eating injera pass more “good” bacteria to their babies through ther breast-milk 😱
#EESmicrobiome Extremely interesting starting session on "Methodological advances in microbiome analysis" with superb therapeutic developmental pipeline by Gene Tyson from @CMR_QUT and ex-vivo models by @A_Geirnaert of the human gut microbiome being presented.
@ReviewCommons is at the #EESMicrobiome 2023!! Exciting "take-off" to the meeting with a flight stewardess asking us fasten our seatbelts Nice introductory talks by the organisers esp Mani Arumugam @microbiomix
