Proud to stand with doctors with @cirseiu, along with @SEIU1199_NE & my colleagues in the legislature, including @DavidMoralesPVD, & many everyday Rhode Islanders, as our doctors fight for a fair contract so that they can provide the best care to their patients.
"I Love Boosters" is lots of fun & if you live in #RhodeIsland you can catch it at the @avoncinema in Providence - have a great time, support a fun film & our beloved locally owned independent movie theater. Take @RIPTA_RI 's #1 bus to Thayer Street. Don't miss out!
Let me trace the timeline here because nobody's connecting it.
Step 1: Scrape the entire internet. Every book, every article, every conversation, every piece of art, every forum post. Do it without asking. Do it without paying.
Step 2: Train a model on all of it. Call it "artificial intelligence."
Step 3: Go to BlackRock's Infrastructure Summit and announce: "We see a future where intelligence is a utility, like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter."
Step 3 is where you sell people's own knowledge back to them. On a meter.
They took the collective output of human thought, compressed it into a model, and now they want to charge you by the token to access a version of what you and everyone you know already created.
One Reddit user put it perfectly: "They stole all this data from us, the people, our life's work, creativity, art, by devouring the internet and blowing through all copyright laws. Now they want to sell it back to us in the form of a utility."
Imagine if someone photocopied every book in the public library, burned the library down, and then opened a subscription service for the copies.
That's the metered intelligence business model.
And they're pitching it to infrastructure investors as though they invented water.
Deforestation fuels deadly heatwaves. Without trees we lose shade + evaporative cooling (dropping local temps 2-8ยฐC). Boosting urban tree cover to 30% could prevent ~1/3 of heat-related deaths. Trees save lives.
Let us honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice on this Memorial Day by working for peace, ending the immoral, illegal, unnecessary war on Iran, and stopping the next unprovoked war. These "whenever wars" dishonor our ideals of freedom and democracy.
I love boosters is pro-union, anti-capitalist, pro-eater, has an amazing cast with strong performances, beautiful costumes and set design, great score, and the plot is insane in the best way possible. Go see this in theaters now!!!
David Attenborough has spent years sounding the alarm on factory trawling, and heโs right: bottom trawling is one of the most destructive practices in our oceans. Alaska needs leaders willing to stand up to the trawling lobby and protect our fisheries before itโs too late.

Across the world, communities are already taking action for biodiversity.
This #BiodiversityDay and every day, join them and help turn local efforts into global impact.

A single 400-year-old ancient oak produces 234,000 litres of oxygen a year while soaking up carbon dioxide, and can support more than 2,000 species of bird, insect, fungus, and lichen.
Sheria Clarke refused to acknowledge who won in the 2020 election. Why are @SenJackReed and @SenWhitehouse voting to confirm her nomination? Why has Sheldon voted SIX times to confirm Trumpโs nominees?
I agree with @MarieForRI, @EnriqueForRI and @CBlazejewski - you convinced me: this is a strong bi-partisan initiative which Rhode Islanders support โ๏ธ ๐ ๐ณ ๐บ๐ธ
Taking advantage of a beautiful day, @JenStewartRI brought students to visit the People's House and learn about the advocacy and hearing processes that happen during each day of session. They appreciated the staff who shared about their work.
Congratulations to my friend & colleague Representative Chris Blazejewski - Rhode Island's new Speaker of the House ๐๐๐โจ๏ธ Rep. Felix and I were so happy you found time to join us in Pawtucket !
@CBlazejewski
Congratulations to my friend and colleague Representative Katherine Kazarian on being elected House Majority Leader, the first woman to hold that position! @repkazarian ๐๐๐โจ๏ธ
The largest organism on Earth might be a single quaking aspen tree in central Utah. And it's dying.
It's called Pando, Latin for "I spread." Above ground, it looks like a normal forest: 47,000 individual aspen trunks covering 106 acres, the trembling green leaves rustling in the wind that gives the species its name.
Below ground, every one of those trunks is connected to a single shared root system. They're genetically identical. They came from one seed.
Recent DNA analysis suggests Pando is between 16,000 and 80,000 years old. The individual trunks live 100 to 130 years, but the root system regenerates new shoots as old ones die. The organism keeps going.
Until recently. Pando is dying, and we know exactly why.
About a century ago, ranchers and trappers eliminated wolves, bears, and cougars from the area. Without predators to keep them in check, mule deer and elk populations exploded.
Those animals love to eat aspen saplings. They've been eating Pando's new shoots faster than the root system can produce replacements. The mature trunks are aging out, and there are no young trees coming up behind them.
Researchers have proven the cause beyond doubt by building fenced enclosures around sections of Pando. Inside the fences, where deer and elk can't reach, young aspens grow back vigorously. Outside the fences, the decline continues.
Pando survived the last ice age. It survived as many as 80,000 years of weather, fire, drought, and disease. What's killing it is the absence of predators we removed in a single human lifetime.
The fix is known. Restore predators, fence sections of the grove, manage deer and elk populations more aggressively.
The challenge is political, not biological.
The largest single living thing on Earth is being eaten alive by an ecological imbalance we created, and saving it requires accepting that "wilderness" doesn't manage itself once we remove the pieces that did.
Republicans cannot be trusted to run our economy. From the gas pump to the grocery store, Rhode Islanders are facing a cost-of-living crisis. The Epstein Class & the Mar-a-lago mafia want us blaming everyone but them for why our lives are unaffordable.
This is alarming. Using law enforcement to target political opponents should never happen in the U.S. We don't know all the facts yet, but the context here, including political prosecutions of James Comey, NY AG Letitia James, & Fulton County GA election workers, is troubling.
