🔬 Nectandrin B (NecB), a bioactive lignan from nutmeg, extended fruit fly lifespan by up to 42.6% - the most substantial improvement in lifespan observed in animal experiments to date (DOI: 10.18632/aging.205234). NecB dramatically reduced intracellular ROS levels and improved age-related symptoms including locomotive deterioration, body weight gain, and neurodegeneration in aging Drosophila. The compound outperformed rapamycin by 11.5%, achieving the most effective life extension to date among tested agents. While fly studies are promising, we urgently need mammalian trials to determine if NecB represents a genuine breakthrough for human longevity.
