@webdevMason Also, the man was stealing cigarettes, as opposed to say food. There’s many nuances that can be picked up in any given theft scenario as well.
@0xfoobar Yes, high quality tweet. The bigger picture is them adopting an open transaction layer and setting that trend, as opposed to building it themselves. Will there be single points of failure? Ofc! But at the end of the day it’ll make blockchains more ubiquitous

I’ve had the idea that the best way to recuperate funds is to show a mosaic of headshots of the people affected. Easier said than done but it would put a face on the pixels.
@noahseidman I think in the case of DeFi its often a matter of “asset blindness”. The hacker has interacted with numbers on a screen for so long that they become meaningless. $10k or $10m are just separated by pixels, not by real world losses and pain.
