@josedavidmillan 2026:
VAR takes four minutes to review the attacker’s fingernail being 1 cm behind the defender’s toenail using the most advanced straight line, tiny grid, holographic technology available.
Goal stands.
All organic excitement is killed.
@Brady_H Get the pie. Any pie. The people who say don’t eat pie with breakfast aren’t the people you need in your life - particularly on a long run Saturday. Get the pie.
Coach: You went 20 minutes longer than your plan on your long run. We talked about this.
Me: I was going to stop, but a Jeezy track came on.
Coach: Geez, that’s your excuse?
Me:

Me: His name is Jeezy.
Now with the pro kits on the track, too. There is something to be said for being understated and not having to scream “look at me”, but Puma isn’t the one saying it.
@ykt914@Brady_H Oh, that’s gotta be fun for the new guy or gal who hears “oh, we’re running two today” and then feels like the victim of some cruel initiation somewhere about mile 9.
@Brady_H Brendan Leonard’s “Have Fun Out There” is always my favorite explanation of halfway - though I somewhat prefer the more concrete and singular 20.
I’m not really into candles, but if someone ever made a candle that smelled like the rubber and glue of new shoes, they could just go ahead and take all my money.
This is why I show up to the start line 2 hours early, wear super shoes, and race all-out in local, novelty 5K’s. You can’t get stuck in the terribly planned tunnel if you’re first in the terribly planned tunnel.
The Houston Astros’ first Race to the Pennant 5K/10K, held on Saturday, May 2, promised runners a fun finish inside the team’s stadium, Daikin Park, plus a commemorative shirt, medal, and access to a postrace party on the concourse.
For a lot of participants, though, the final stretch came with an unexpected feature of waiting an obscenely long time.

After extensive research today (sorry, employer), I have learned that a marathon is 26.219 miles, and a marathun is 42.195 kilometers.
Seems like we could all just agree at some point, but here we are.
I keep hearing people - Brits and Aussies to name a couple groups - talk about this race called a marathun. I know what a marathon is, but I don’t know about this marathun thing.

THIS is what it’s all about. Runners are some of the very best humans I know. They know the grind. They know about putting their legs and heart on the line to do something hard - and the intrinsic reward it offers. And they know that we all need to get picked up at times.
I hope these nice folks headed to Miami from Austin this morning are ready for some in-depth analysis of training methods, fueling, and tangents. Because they are boarding with *that* guy.
