Ever since I learned of the passing of Mackenzie last month, I've really struggled to find the words. I've spent some of that time rewatching all of our old vlogs he made of us together and laughing my head off at the stupid stuff we did. I hope my stories do his impact justice.
I remember going to E3 2016 and meeting him in the hotel lobby before we got all the Bethesda focused creators together for dinner. The bond was instantaneous. We spent literally every second of that trip together and did that again for E3 2018. This dude made me laugh like no one else and we had an unforgettable time together making content. It was the first moment the whole idea of a "Bethesda Community" actually started to feel like a real thing to me.
I remember tearing up during each flight home because I was sad that it would be a long time until I saw my friend again. It's the blessing and the 'curse' of what we do online. You meet people like Mackenzie who are equally obsessed with this weird part of gaming and learn you have more in common with them beyond that. I distinctly remember us talking about the main L with E3 going away was that we'd be able to hang less. Fortunately, we still linked up at PAX East and stayed in touch online as best as we could.
Mackenzie was as brilliant as he was hilarious. I'm so beyond grateful that the memories we have aren't just that, but were captured in such a beautiful way that I'll always to be able to look back on and remember an incredible time in my life. I miss you, brother. Thank you for everything and we'll meet again in Sovngarde. ❤️
@Camelworks
Today, we share the heartbreaking news that Mackenzie Rowles, known to many of you as “Camelworks”, has passed away.
Together with his family and friends, we recently held a celebration of his life and gave him a final send-off, with his ashes being scattered across the Australian countryside.
I cannot describe the heartache I felt when I was told the news. Mack was my good friend, one of the first people I ever met in the games industry and Bethesda/YouTube community, over 10 years ago. He was the kindest, most welcoming person you could ever have the privilege of knowing. He cared very deeply about those around him - always happy to have a conversation and help you with any problem you were facing, without question. And man, he was just the funniest guy. No matter how you were feeling, he could make you laugh and brighten your day.
Camel’s family has asked for all of you to share your fondest memories of him and remember him for the incredible life he lived. He built an amazing community of over 800 thousand people across his YouTube channels, and we would love to hear how he touched your lives. Please also respect their privacy at this difficult time.
Finally, I would like to show you this video of Mackenzie, which was made for his family and played at his celebration of life service. Many tears were shed when editing this video, and I hope it does his memory justice.
Camel, I cannot help but cry when writing this, but rest in peace my brother. I will spend my days looking for you in Sovngarde and we will share a drink once again.

@ka_leidos Oh damn! Pretty much this exact thing happened to me a few weeks back?? Thankfully nothing was deleted but my pc just wouldn't boot up at all after. I had to rejig the hardware for it to even get up to the windows boot up 😬 I'm sorry this happened to you, that just sucks.
We are heartbroken.
Diogo was adored by our fans, loved by his teammates and cherished by everyone who worked with him during his time at Wolves. The memories he created will never be forgotten.
Our hearts go out to the family, friends and loved ones of Diogo and his brother, Andre.
You will be truly missed, and always remembered.
@ArtOfPilgrim Very similar experience here, came out with a first in game design, was totally unemployable when it came to game development, thankfully I was able to get into simulation training 😂
I wish people wouldn't spout this rhetoric.
