Hồ Chí Minh quoted the American Declaration of Independence at the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945.
Word for word.
"All men are created equal. They are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights. Among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
He wasn't being clever. He wasn't being sarcastic.
He believed that America, having fought its own colonial power, would understand what Vietnam was trying to do.
He wrote letters to Harry Truman. Multiple letters.
Asking for support. Or at minimum, asking to be left alone.
Truman never responded. Not once.
Instead, the United States funded France's attempt to re-colonize Vietnam to the tune of 80% of the war's cost.
They paid the French to keep Vietnamese people enslaved because they were more afraid of Vietnamese independence than they were committed to the principles written in their own founding documents.
When France lost at Điện Biên Phủ, humiliated, hollowed out, crawling home, America stepped in directly.
Because the lesson had to be delivered.
Because a free Vietnam was too dangerous an idea to be allowed to exist.
So they took a man who quoted Jefferson and answered his plea for independence with twenty years of war.
Jefferson survived.
Hồ Chí Minh survived.
Vietnam survived.
And the country that wrote "all men are created equal" spent those twenty years proving it didn't believe a word of it.
You won’t find a better explanation for why China is rising & the US is declining:
“In America, you can change parties but you can’t change policies. Billionaires control all policy. In China capital doesn’t have enshrined rights. In America, capital has risen above the nation.”
This is outrageous.
A small town in Michigan did everything right to stop OpenAI & Oracle from building a $16 billion data center in their town.
The people of Saline Township flooded their council meeting, put up signs all over town, and convinced their officials to reject it.
The officials voted against the data center 4-1, and that should have been the end. But two days later the developers sued, and the town couldn’t afford to fight back in court.
We are not a free nation when billion-dollar corporations can take over the land of our communities and towns. We are a captive nation ruled by corporations and billionaires.
must be so blissful being a lib, no ideological framework for why things happen, no coherent understanding of history or economics, just individual issues that you interpret solely based on vibes
The folks celebrating Democrats gerrymandering Virginia at the same time CA Democrats used their supermajority to kill single-payer healthcare don’t get it: Giving Democrats power does not translate into wins for the people because their party serves the capitalist oligarchy too.
Americans paid more than $265 billion in tariffs under Trump in 2025, averaging about $1,050 per household and hitting low-income families hardest. Trump sold it as a tax on foreign countries, but tariffs are paid by U.S. importers and passed straight to consumers through higher prices. In February 2026, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that most of these tariffs were illegal, and the government is now refunding roughly $166 billion to around 330,000 importing companies. The sleight of hand: the refund goes to the business that filed the customs paperwork, not the family that paid the markup at the register. Unless a corporation voluntarily hands the money back or a lawsuit forces it to, the refund becomes pure profit, turning an illegal tax on working Americans into a $166 billion windfall for corporations. This fits the broader pattern of the Trump era. Elon Musk’s wealth roughly doubled during his stint at DOGE, the Trump family pulled in hundreds of millions through crypto ventures and licensing deals while he was in office, and foreign governments funneled money into Trump-branded properties. The tariff story is the same machine in a different gear: ordinary Americans paid the bill, the courts said the bill was illegal, and the money went to corporations and the already-wealthy rather than back to the people who actually paid it.
Clara Mattei demonstrates how Marxist critique can calmly dismantle liberal/capitalist assumptions with intellectual rigor, responding not with anger but with patience and clarity that exposes the limits of a narrowly formed worldview.

@AAgAlienation@cheezwh25649020 Fascism is the guard dog of capital, and private owners have profited obscenely under fascist governments.
So how could one call the USSR fascist when there were no private owners of capital after the NEP ended?
@jitagwoshiku The Black liberation starter kit is leftist:

@jitagwoshiku Communism is the antithesis to capitalism & socialism is the antidote to fascism.
Worker emancipation is intersectional. ‘Liberation from exploitation & oppression’ for only a select few isn’t freedom; it’s just class privilege, which is inherently anti-leftist.
America…?
A moral compass…?
*clears throat*
The United States was built on genocide and ethnic cleansing
In 1898 it declared itself a ‘global power’ by crushing independence movements in the Philippines, killing at least 200k Filipino civilians
From 1912 to 1933 it occupied Nicaragua, violently suppressing nationalist movements
From 1915 to 1934 it invaded and occupied Haiti, essentially legalising slave labour
From 1916 to 1924 it done the same to the Dominican Republic
In 1945 it needlessly dropped two atomic bombs on civilians days before they knew Japan was to surrender, in a ‘display of strength’ to the Soviets
In 1953 it overthrew Iran’s democracy in an act of pure self-interest
In 1954 it overthrew Guatemala’s democracy leading to decades of violence
In 1965 it backed mass killings in Indonesia, enabling the murder of up to a million people
In the 1960’s and 1970’s it carpet-bombed Vietnam, killed millions, and poisoned the land
From 1969 to 1973 it also carpet-bombed Cambodia with similar effects
In 1973 it installed a dictatorship in Chile through a military coup
From 1979 to 1989 it armed and funded Afghan militias, destabilising the country for decades
In the 1990s it strangled Iraq with sanctions, devastating millions
In 2003 it invaded Iraq on a lie, leading to a million dead
In 2011 it destroyed Libya, turning a functioning state into a failed one where slave markets now exist
In the 2020s it continues unabated, funding and arming the Gaza genocide and more atrocities across the Middle East
This is not even close to an exhaustive list of US crimes
So, what’s very, very important to understand is not that the United States has lost its ‘moral compass’ — it’s that it’s lost its ability to rewrite history in real time because the internet exists
It has lost total control of the narrative
Or, in short, now we’re able to see what it really is, and always has been
