@HollyKirk@pelentini@MondayStory@LeenaVanD As a small sister I strongly agree with the Dench as older sister vibe - who else would give you a savagely honest opinion on whether you should have bought that top or stubbornly encourage you to work for something you can absolutely achieve...
@rehemat_ So a research group might see some great results from a new treatment in a laboratory, which can then be moved into a clinical trial phase to test & have impact on humans.
@rehemat_ I know less about translational research, and someone from a biomedical background will definitely explain better as that's where it seems a more commonly used term, but it describes developing early stage research into something that has human impact...
@rehemat_ Hope that makes sense, most universities should have some info resources about commercialisation under their innovation/collaboration/tech transfer pages. In the past I think I have looked at Oxford and York as a starting point...
@rehemat_ It can take a few different routes but commonly starts with patenting a technology to protect it from being copied, then licensing it to a company (stopping any other company from making/selling it)...
@rehemat_ I think I might be able to help a little! Am assuming you're wondering from an academic research pov but let me know if I'm wrong. Commercialisation describes how a piece of university research or technology enters into the market aka be sold by a company/used as a product...
@SamRoyle883@Froudo_baggins First time I cycled in Sheffield my road bike skidded on a tram line and I came off in spectacular fashion with the scars to prove it...have fun!
It’s that most beautiful time of the year! A mix of 32 minerals (& groups!) from common to esoteric are competing, each with unique reasons to love it above all others.
But only one mineral can be crowned champion.
#MinCup2021 daily votes start September 1st.
@SamRoyle883 Yeah, it takes a while and it's so different working outside of academia, I tried a few things before I figured out what I actually enjoyed doing outside of lab stuff but it's worth taking the time though
@SamRoyle883 😂 😂 I work for a company that helps academic research connect with industry r&d, in their Comms dept, also some freelance science writing. What kind of role are you looking for? You guys staying in London?
