For teachers to be “All In” in 2023 doesn’t mean they have to be at school til 7 every night. Doesn’t mean they need to take school work home with them every night. Doesn’t mean they need to work every weekend w/ planning or grading. This isn’t All In, this is Burned Out.

Morale is a reflection of leadership. This means appreciating, encouraging, and praising staff. But, it also means having their back, going to bat for them, and supporting them whether it is with discipline or other issues. This is leadership at it's best!

Nell Duke: research says rainbow writing doesn’t work. Let it go. Move on to higher impact practices Like phonological spelling practices. Teach letter sound associations logically.
I organized my fav online math games by topic. Our T'ers are running small groups during Intervention Time & we want to include a technology game center

Teachers don't leave because it's hard. Teachers are some of the hardest working professionals I know. They leave because the expectations become more unrealistic every year.
If a child couldn’t swim, would you chuck them in the deep end to “figure it out”?
No.
They would definitely hate water in top of everything else.
Get them used to the water, teach them how to swim, and praise them for their successes.
