It's also not just pwm but also temporal dithering and FRC that is another form of bad flicker at the pixel level. So you can have a DC dimmed device but it can still cause your light source to flicker since it shines through the pixels. The harbor paper 7 rlcd tablet had insane pixel flicker - see vid
Anything RLCD/TLCD such as the daylight dc1 tablet , hannsnote 2 tablet, eazeye 2 monitor, eazeye radiant monitor, sunvision eve monitor, and sunvision dawn monitor. There are older ones like the tcl s8 and hisense q5 tablets too.
For eink which is closest to paper would be any dasung, bigme, or boox devices. Lenovo also did sell a thinkbook plus gen 4 color eink laptop. The latest one is the modos flow which is 13.3in eink and is capable of 60Hz. The only other closest one to 60hz that isnt 10.3in is the dasung 253 50hz monitor.
From my experience being away from screens for 8+ months id say they are but much more than by 20%. I felt like a new person, never felt that good in my life before. I'm starting to use a jailbroken humane ai pin on tmobile as a screenless voice controlled device to cut back on screens again. Last time I did it by using a apple watch with siri only, not looking at the screen.
@BlueLightDiet polarized light and use of phosphors to achieve their spectrum is far from natural sadly. I'm surprised he hasn't emi tested them either. I don't think any led is going to top incans regarding comfort in all honesty. Phosphor color is so strainy

lol bro I tested several incandescents in my house with zero flicker using the camera. I'm also using slo mo and also put the camera to the highest shutterspeed with zero flicker. I can see leds and plasma tvs flicker but never incan. Either your incan isnt a true incandescent or your camera is playing the recording back at a different frequency than what it recorded at which makes the smooth brightness blip look worse than it is. OR you are connected to an outlet that other devices in your house are plugged into (same breaker) that have EMI causing it to flicker.
I personally dont think the sine wave flicker from AC is a issue unless you got some crazy emi. The whole flicker issue seems to have started with low quality leds, they have their own unique flicker with some gnarly waveforms that again arent sine wave. Even if your bulbs are flicker free on paper that still doesnt mean its instantly better, theres much more than just flicker which is what ive mentioned several times now. They still are using phosphors and polarized light which is very unnatural. If you read on https://t.co/KzNvA5eBIw or other sites youll see KSF being one commonly pointed out phosphor that causes headaches, eye pain, nausea, etc. KSF is to gain more "red" spectrum too. The lack of UV also isnt good either as its unbalanced light. You're receiving push back from people because your trying to say your light is the best and incans are worse.

LEDs lack UV and even if you are using phosphor to get certain wavelengths that still is very unnatural. They normally have sharp red peaks.
If you record a incandescent bulb with slow motion youll see zero flicker. They are never a sharp on/off state. Also even if your leds are DC dimmed that can still produce EMI. I also dont think polarized light leds emit is anything healthy either as its very unnatural light. Im not trying to dog your bulbs but you keep trying to make incandescent sound bad when they always will be the #1 light source (not counting sun/candles)
@thelightdiet@Jamieone80 If you buy 130v incandescent bulbs instead of 110v they last a LONG time. I have been running several of those in my house constantly for years and years without them burning out. Look into Phoebus cartel.
Bro what? Incandescent flicker is a smooth sine wave โ the filament never fully cools off making it soft on the eyes so its not even a comparison. LEDs can never match that as they are either in a on or off state for PWM driven ones + phosphor known to cause eyestrain. LEDs also emit spatially non-uniform light, unlike incandescent. Incandescents also are IR/Red light rich. You can still find them in the US in stores and even on ebay/amazon. Them running hotter is fine as its a more premium light output that is healthier for us.
