Kennedy cited two studies as evidence vaccines don't drive mortality reduction. Cassidy pulled up both during the hearing.
Study one: Kennedy quoted it accurately up to the point where the next sentence contradicted him. He stopped before that sentence.
Study two: cited statistics from before the measles vaccine was introduced, making it structurally useless as evidence against the vaccine's effectiveness.
Cassidy is a Republican. A physician. He told reporters: "We are a first-world country, and speaking as a physician that knows this can be prevented, it grieves me."
The correction of Kennedy's testimony came from his own party. Using his own sources.
I hate to give airplay to misinformation, but the following post is still online - hasn’t been deleted - and it’s from the person who is currently nominated to be Surgeon General of the United States- who btw doesn’t have an active medical license. This post alone should be disqualifying for the job.
Here are the dangerous factual errors in the post:
1) Hep B is not transmitted exclusively through needles and sex; it can also spread perinatally from mother to child, through household contacts sharing items, or other blood exposures.
2) Even if parents test negative, testing isn't perfect - late infections, errors, or incomplete records can and do occur, risking newborns who have a 90% chance of chronic infection if exposed
3) Her claim of zero documented cases from infected playground needles: While rare, there are cases of Hep B transmission from community needlesticks in children.
4) The virus CAN survive on surfaces/needles - up to 7 days or more.
5) Far from "insanity" or "no benefit," the birth dose has reduced U.S. childhood Hep B infections by >95%, preventing cirrhosis and liver cancer.
America can’t afford a Surgeon General who so boldly states clear and harmful misinformation, much less someone who doesn’t even feel the need to remove such online falsehoods WHILE AWAITING A CONFIRMATION VOTE. 🤦🏽♂️
ICE agents wouldn’t even allow a doctor to go check the pulse of the Renee Nicole Good whom they had shot in Minneapolis.
DOCTOR: Can I go check her pulse?”
ICE: NO!
DOCTOR: I’m A physician!
ICE: I Don’t Care!
These are the monsters of Trump‘s America.
Two people were killed this evening at Brown University by a gunman who remains at large. Eight others are injured, fighting for their lives in a nearby hospital. This senseless violence—once considered unfathomable—has become nauseatingly normal to all of us across our nation. Tonight, on the eve of the anniversary of the Sandy Hook shooting, we find ourselves in mourning once again.
The epidemic of gun violence stretches across America. We reckon with it when we step into our houses of worship and out onto our streets, when we drop our children off at kindergarten and when we fear if those children, now grown, will be safe on campus. But unlike so many other epidemics, we possess the cure. We have the power to eradicate this suffering from our lives if we so choose.
I send my deepest condolences to the families of the victims, and to the Brown and Providence communities, who are wrestling with a grief that will feel familiar to far too many others. May we never allow ourselves to grow numb to this pain, and let us rededicate ourselves to the enduring work of ending the scourge of gun violence in our nation.
I’ve been keeping something from you.
The way I cope with hard things is by doing the work and putting the pain in a box. But the truth is—since I spoke out against insurance companies, things have been really hard.
My practice is struggling. I built a surgery center so I could take better care of my patients, expecting to do my cases through insurance. But several insurance companies have refused to contract with me since I posted that video. The strain has been so heavy, I’m not sure I can keep the practice open in its current form.
I’m sharing this because no insurance company should have the power to shut down a practice, especially one built to help people.
All I want is to take care of my patients. All I want is to do the right thing. I’ve invested all of my time, money, and heart into this.
And it’s dangerous—truly dangerous—that one or two insurance companies can make decisions that threaten the future of a practice like mine.
I’m hoping that I can figure something out for the practice, but I just wanted to be honest with you guys because this is part of the reality of being a doctor.
This isn’t the first time I’ve been here.
COVID almost knocked me out.
The https://t.co/6oP6oOUchx hack, when I wasn’t paid for three months, was another blow.
And now this—being punished for telling the truth.
But I won’t be knocked out.
I’m committed to telling the truth about healthcare, about insurance, and working to find a better way to continue to keep my practice open and taking care of women with breast cancer so I don’t lost my practice or my home.
I promise I’ll keep you updated.
His. Former. Vice. President. Told. Us. Not. To. Vote. For. Him.
His current VP candidate called him America’s Hitler.
Almost every single one of his prior Cabinet members said he is grossly unqualified and dangerous.
We are a nation of imbeciles. I hate everyone.
Hi, ER Doc here.
Just a friendly reminder if your nose is bleeding, DO NOT TILT YOUR HEAD BACK. This just makes the blood drip down the back of your throat and you will then swallow and/or choke on it. Pinch the soft part of your nose and TILT YOUR HEAD FORWARD. Please tell all your friends about this.
So many medical issues can come up during pregnancy. The notion that the State can require permission for life-saving abortions is absurd. This is one of Kamala’s biggest advantages in this election.
I have Asthma, allergies, dyslexia, ADD, anxiety, and Depression.
But I will tell you that what you have does not define what you can become.
Why Not You!
