🚨 Joint-statement from Cape Verde, Curaçao, Uzbekistan, Congo, Haiti, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Ghana, Senegal, South Africa and Côte d’Ivoire expressing their “profound disappointment” following the recent comments made by UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin arguing the expanded World Cup will create “uninteresting” games.
“We respectfully but firmly reject these comments.
“For our countries, there is no such thing as an unimportant World Cup match.
“For Cape Verde, Curaçao and Uzbekistan, qualification for the FIFA World Cup represents a historic achievement and the realization of a dream shared by generations.
“For nations such as Congo and Haiti, returning to football’s biggest stage after a long absence carries a special meaning for millions of supporters who have waited years, and in some cases decades, for this moment.
“To suggest that these matches are somehow less important is deeply disappointing and fails to recognize the efforts, sacrifices and aspirations of players, coaches, clubs, football leaders and supporters across the world.
“Behind every qualification stand years of work and investment. Behind every national team stand entire communities and millions of people who see football as a source of pride, hope and unity.
“Football does not belong to a select group of nations. Its strength comes from its universality. The FIFA World Cup is the world’s greatest football competition precisely because it brings together different cultures, different histories and different football journeys.
“For many countries, participation in the FIFA World Cup is not only a sporting achievement. It is a moment that inspires a generation, accelerates football development and creates memories that last a lifetime.
“We believe that every nation that qualifies deserves respect. Every team has earned its place on merit. Every supporter has the right to dream. Every match carries meaning for millions of people around the world.
“We therefore reject the UEFA President’s comments and reaffirm our belief that the growth of football must continue to create opportunities, inspire new generations and strengthen the truly global nature of our game.
“Every team qualified on merit.
“Every match matters.”

Merci infiniment.

Africa must stand united behind DR Congo 🇨🇩
If it were any other nation in this position, the entire continent would rally behind them without hesitation. This is the same spirit we need now.
Football is bigger than past rivalries. It’s about representation and showing the world the strength of African football.
Let’s put everything aside and push DR Congo all the way to the World Cup.
Africa deserves 10 representatives and we must fight for it together.

Although AFCON rules state walking off or refusing to play for a prolonged period is grounds for elimination, the decision to strip Senegal of the AFCON title two months after their trophy lift is a bad look for CAF.
It should be within the power of the officials in real time to disqualify a team, but it's a hollow victory for Morocco to appeal and win in this manner, weeks after the trophy lift.
Morocco accepted Senegal's return from their 10-minute walk off, gladly resumed play and took their penalty.
Missing it, losing the game, then appealing to gain the trophy doesn't sit right, even if by the letter of the law there are grounds to do so.
@CAF_Media The decision to strip Senegal of their title is nothing short of disgraceful. Championships should be earned and contested on the pitch—not decided in courtrooms or boardrooms. The integrity of the game demands far better. Senegal 🇸🇳 Our Champion 🏆
🚨💣 BREAKING: Marc Guehi to Manchester City, HERE WE GO! 💙
Official proposal accepted by Crystal Palace right now — understand fee will be around £20m.
Guehi has ACCEPTED move to #MCFC.
Exclusive story, now confirmed. 🧨
Honestly VAR is terrible. I know this will look like City correspondent upset at decision against City but honestly these piss me off in any game. It's so bad
🇰🇪Kenya does not have a talent problem.
We have a support problem.
Today at 12 p.m. in Nairobi, Angela Okutoyi steps onto the court at the ITF W35 Singles, competing on home soil. One of Kenya’s brightest tennis prospects, carrying global potential with minimal backing and even less noise.
No billboards.
No brand rollouts.
Just quiet excellence.
At the same time, Pauline Shegu, a three-time Safari Rally champion, is racing against the clock, not for podiums, but for sponsorship as the WRC Safari Rally approaches.
In December, David Munyua, a full-time veterinarian, became the first Kenyan to ever play at and African to win the Paddy Power World Darts Championship, without a sponsor behind him.
Three athletes.
Three sports.
One pattern.
Kenyan athletes keep winning despite the system, not because of it.
We are very good at celebrating greatness after it becomes obvious. After medals validate it. After headlines make it safe. But history shows something else, real icons are rarely loud in the moment.
Sometimes, the icon isn’t in the past.
Sometimes, they are lining up at the starting line right now.
David. Angela. Pauline. They are not asking for sympathy. They are offering something rare, discipline built in silence, resilience sharpened locally and excellence that hasn’t been outsourced.
If your brand stands for African excellence. Belief in potential. Backing pioneers while the outcome is still uncertain, then this is your moment.
Support our athletes before the applause.
Partner with them before the documentaries.
Stand with them while it still matters.
Because legacy isn’t built by clapping late.
It is built by believing early.
