I'm a Computer Science & Engineering Programmable Systems student from the 🇬🇧, focused primarily on C, Python and TypeScript.

@Corca_math This is actually so cool! well done!

[Ryan Rustill @RyanRustill]

@levelsio I wrote a guide on how to secure a Hetzner/DO a couple weeks back I guess, I figure it might help someone who's not so sure how do all the things you said (and it covers most of them step by step) so I'll just drop a link here 👍

I just published a 5-minute read called Before You Code, Secure the Machine, the story of how I lost control of my first Ubuntu server, what I learned from it, and the exact steps I use now to lock things down, step by step. #SysOps #DevOps #Linux #Ubuntu

@doomerzoomer The only part I can't understand is why OpenAI is trying to dig itself into a bigger dependency hole by focusing on "trillion $ infrastructure projects" that require more of what doesnt work cost wise rather than following Google into investing into its own TPU stack/research 🤷‍♂️.

[Ryan Rustill @RyanRustill]

@sama Sam, an attempt to please everyone will ultimately please very few, I would like to suggest you allow GPT-5 to be the efficiency thinking tool it's intended to be and simply leave 4o as a permanent member of the roster for users who want a more conversational an resonant persona.

[Ryan Rustill @RyanRustill]

@thomasforth I feel, instead of telling individuals to delete emails, we should require data centres to offset their water & energy use by investing in renewable power, efficient cooling, and local reservoirs. Big users should lead on sustainability, not push it onto end users 🤷‍♂️.

[Ryan Rustill @RyanRustill]

@quietdebugger Well done, making the time to get serious about security is on my bucket list and I'm glad to have the path you are walking now as a guide to what I should follow when I reach that point, thank you for sharing and I'm excited to see what you do next!

[Ryan Rustill @RyanRustill]

@gunsnrosesgirl3 Adults truly have no idea what they are doing or why most of the time, I used to assume they had some secret understanding of the world and each other I wasn't privy to yet, but it turns out for the most part there just as lost and clueless as kids.

[Ryan Rustill @RyanRustill]

@HentaiBorg @nixcraft Everyone's buying the PR hype right now, but honestly go ask any AI you like to use to do the same task ten times in a row, each attempt will be a different variant of a similar end result, real world production code cannot be this way, it has to be clean and deterministic.

[Ryan Rustill @RyanRustill]

@HentaiBorg @nixcraft That in itself will just raise the value further of senior developers but I also don't entirely think your concern is valid, it's all just hype propagated by AI companies who want to position the tech as more capable than it really is, enterprise production code cannot be random.

[Ryan Rustill @RyanRustill]

@MoneOunchPan This is really cool and legitimately useful, well done Clive!

[Ryan Rustill @RyanRustill]

@drJonasBirch I jumped the gun by assuming x(200) returns its argument without a definition, if it was, I should have noted that even though int x(int); declares a function, calling it without a definition would either cause a linker error or UB unless we link against something providing it 🤦‍♂️

@kotov_dev I just signed up and I can already tell you did something special here, there's some minor localisation issues to work out but functionally everything seems to be working well and it looks & feels good to use, and I intend to do so!

[Ryan Rustill @RyanRustill]

@andreiatdev I promise you, there's nothing I'm doing that you or anyone else cannot do if you can commit the time and really give yourself to it, start small ... when you feel ready take CS50x (its free) via Harvard and then skip tutorial hell and just start building!

You got this! 🤝

I just published a 4-minute read about how five blinking squares changed how I see systems. It starts with Conway’s Game of Life, but it’s really about memory, emergence and what simple rules can teach us about complexity. #Mathematics, #ComputerScience

@InterestingSTEM This reads like something someone who hasn't actually worked with AI on a regular basis would say, reality is to get anything but the most basic results on a consistent basis you need to be so specific the margin for error is gigantic, jobs are safe for at least another decade.

[Ryan Rustill @RyanRustill]

@mk4y_0 @aidenybai Oh for sure, everything's just JS under the hood if you dig deep enough.

But abstraction isn't the enemy, it's how we keep from reinventing the bug wheel every sprint 😅
