A7: Teachers who communicate in the language and style of their students are able to better relate to their students. It helps the students feel more comfortable in school and makes learning easier and more enjoyable. #rdg318watts
A5: Technology is constantly changing and evolving. It influences so many aspects of our world. It is important for teachers to incorporate technology in the classroom in order to keep their students updated. #rdg318watts
A4: Teachers are role models for their students. If a teacher wants their student to use e-readers, and use them correctly, they need to model this. This also helps students feel like they have a greater support system. #rdg318watts
A3: Everyone develops at their own pace. Certain topics and methods can take longer for some students to comprehend than others. Digital learning allows students to move at their own pace and spend more time on more difficult topics. #rdg318watts
A2: E-readers are great tools for students, especially for those with disabilities. Students with vision impairments can increase the size of the font. There are also features that allow students to have the text read to them. #rdg318watts
A1: This data shows that technology has become this generation's focus. Reading books has been pushed to the back-burner and video games are now front and center. #digitalchat#rdg318watts
@mssaraetwin2 I think this is a great point! Teachers have to know where a student is at so that they can figure out how to get them to reach their goal.
A5: Students love to know how well they are doing. A self assessment scoring rubric would allow students to really analyze how well they are doing in certain areas. They could see where improvements are happening, which is very exciting!

A4: Anecdotal records, observation checklists, and rubrics are different ways to keep up with a child’s behaviors and skills. These show how much a child has improved. The self assessment scoring rubric is interesting because it allows the student to reflect.

Society will not generally look at an individual and appreciate how far they’ve come. Society will compare individuals to each other. Norm-referenced fits to the way the world works, but I believe criterion-referenced would be more beneficial in the long run.

A3: There are benefits to both the norm-referenced and the criterion-referenced assessments. I love the fact that the criterion-referenced assessment focuses on the tasks a student can accomplish, but I see why norm-referenced has to apply standards to everyone.

@wattscaseyl A2: The least direct style of the assessment continuum is a more formal style of interaction. It would be more generalized for students. The most direct would be informal and more suited to the individual.
