Elon Musk is now a trillionaire. More specifically, his net worth is $1.2 trillion or $1200 billion. That number doesn’t even compute for most of us, so here is some helpful context:
The USDA needs $18.8 billion to feed every child in the US school system breakfast and lunch each day. Elon could pay for that 64x and still have money leftover.
The World Food Program needs $13 billion to feed the 110 million hungriest people on earth. Elon could pay for that 92x and still have money leftover.
The National Alliance to End Homelessness needs $9.6 billion to provide housing for every unhoused person in the United States. Elon could pay for that 125x and still have money leftover.
The average American teacher makes $74,495 per year. Elon could pay the annual salary of over 16 million teachers and still have money leftover.
The problem is not that we don’t have enough money. The problem is that we have built a world where one person can accumulate more wealth than the GDP of 180 countries while children go hungry, families drown in medical debt, teachers are forced to buy school supplies for their students, and people sleep on the streets.
This is a complete moral failure.
@henrywinter I paid near £1000 for my and my daughters' season tickets this season. We haven't seen a win. I've seen my daughter devasted because we had to sell her favourite player. But we're going to have another penalised season next season because we owe money to the chairman responsible
@stevechu75@EFL Fans shouldn’t be punished for a 2nd season because of debts owed to DC. I bought 3 season tickets for me and my daughters for this season, at great expense, and I haven’t seen us win. I’ve had a daughter devastated that we were forced to sell her fav player. It’s been horrible.
@YesWeCrann I can’t believe how many owls fans speak so negatively about him. He’s only 20. Pre Ugbo under Rohl he ran himself into the ground, winning corners on his own. This season, running and chasing on his own. He hasn’t scored more cos we don’t make any chances. He will score goals.
@YesWeCrann £1m can’t be enough. He’s 20 with first team experience and international experience. He will score goals for us in a more competitive team (that makes more chances). We surely need some players left to rebuild. I hope we keep him. Absolutely sick of this season.
@swfcfreddie@SWFCTrust I don’t know other people’s choices. Maybe they want to enjoy their normal matchday, maybe they’re worried about supporting kiosk staff, maybe they’re feeding their kids in the family stand. Whatever, they don’t deserve abuse or blame for faults of the owner
@SY_Supertram@leahsto96773836 No child or discounted tickets available on the buses either - daughter with zoom pass had to buy £2.50 adult single just for travel to Hillsborough
