#India: We are concerned by reports of mass detentions of demonstrators, protest leaders, members of civil society organisations, lawyers and journalists, before and during today’s large-scale demonstrations in Delhi.
We call on the authorities to ensure that the right to peaceful assembly is fully respected and fulfilled.

Dear Prime Minister Ambani,
Please accept my humble apologies for not realizing that you are the real boss of India.
Naturally, you would prefer to maintain your monopolistic exploitation of the great people of India, but would you nonetheless consider allowing Starlink to compete?
There are many areas of India, as there are in all countries, with no Internet access, which denies children the opportunity for education and for small businesses the opportunity to sell their goods to a global market. Starlink would change their lives for the better.
Thank you 🙏

Sorry to interrupt your Sunday, friends.
I really hesitated to write this, but if I don’t speak up today, I will be facing a severe financial crisis within a week or two.
To be clear, I am not asking for charity or financial help. I am asking for work.
I have been completely without work for the last three months. My last project ended on June 30th, and since then I have knocked on every door I know—calling, texting, meeting contacts, and following up.
People say they will try, but after that first talk, the silence takes over. Calls go unanswered or get cut after a couple of rings. I honestly don't know whether the industry is shifting because of AI or if my age (52) is working against me, but despite over 13 years of solid experience in the field, nothing has materialized.
Now, my savings are down to the very end. I can barely hold out for another week or two.
I am a professional content writer, translator, and speaker who is comfortable on stage and in front of the camera. I write and translate fluently across Gujarati, Hindi, and English, with Gujarati being my strongest suit.
Many of you already know my grasp of politics and my political writing, but I am equally adept at covering Bollywood and cricket. My priority is media houses, digital platforms, or publications, but I am open to any genuine writing or translation opportunity.
I can work remotely or take up assignments on-site anywhere in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, as I need to be close to my elderly mother to take care of her health.
Because my situation is urgent, I am especially looking for quick-turnaround freelance assignments or immediate projects where payments can be settled on submission.
If you or anyone in your circle has work, please reach out to me directly in my DMs.
A humble, earnest request: while I deeply value your warmth, please refrain from sending just "best wishes" or "stay strong" messages right now. I am fighting hard to stay out of a very dark headspace, and right now, only actual work leads can pull me through.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for your support. My inbox is open. 🙏
A boy said he went to Kalyan railway station in Maharashtra to drop his family off for their train. The train was originally scheduled to leave at 12 noon, but later they were told it would arrive at 2 PM.
He had bought a platform ticket and waited with his family. However, the train kept getting delayed. Around 5 PM, when he was helping his family board the train and was about to leave, a TTE stopped him and asked for his platform ticket.
He showed the ticket, but the TTE told him that a platform ticket is valid only for 2 hours. Since more than 2 hours had passed, he was fined ₹500.
The boy then raised a simple question: if the train was delayed for several hours because of the railway, why should the passenger be held responsible for staying at the station?
He had purchased a valid platform ticket and was only there to drop his family.
If the delay was caused by the railway, shouldn’t there be some consideration for passengers and their families who are forced to wait longer?
It raises a genuine question about whether passengers should be fined when they remain at the station because of a railway delay.

4 school kids died in this unfortuante accident. Everyone is blaming truck driver, However I want to highlight something very different.
That is defensive driving, Just learning how to drive isnt enough in India, Teach your children defensive driving.
Defensive driving is the ability to anticipate the stupidity that can happen on the road and protect yourself from it.
What do you do when:
- The car ahead brakes without warning?
- A truck is parked in the fast lane?
- A vehicle suddenly changes lanes without indicating?
- Someone is driving towards you from the wrong side of the road?
- A bike appears from a blind spot?
- A pedestrian crosses the road while looking at their phone?
- An auto-rickshaw stops suddenly to pick up a passenger?
- A vehicle behind you is driving too fast and too close?
- A driver is angry, impatient or clearly distracted?
- You are approaching an intersection where you cannot see what is coming from the other side?
Defensive driving means keeping a safe distance, scanning beyond the vehicle directly in front of you, checking blind spots, anticipating mistakes, using indicators, understanding escape routes, slowing down at junctions and never assuming that another driver has seen you.
It also means knowing when not to overtake, not getting into a road rage contest, giving way when the other person is clearly reckless, and remembering that being right is not more important than reaching home safely.
Driving in India is like navigating through an animal kingdom. Survival depends not only on knowing how to move through the jungle, but also on knowing how to defend yourself when the jungle behaves unpredictably.
I hope road safety in India changes over time. I am putting a significant amount of my time into making that happen.
But what do we do until then. I will write more about defensive driving soon. I have done a course on it and one day and it has saved my life. I wish to do same for kids.
In USA, you can do many things, there are plenty of voluntary opportunities to build communities and help others, learn new things.
But NO. 95% Indians in USA don't engage in any of them. If they engage, they engage only in two things.
1. Caste gatherings
2. Religious gatherings.
Due to their emptiness and lack of active lifestyle, they get all non-sense ideas and end-up as jokers.
Cashless health insurance is legally sanctioned house arrest.
The doctor officially discharges you at 9 AM. You are fully recovered, your bags are packed and your family is ready to take you home.
Then the hospital administration steps in: "Sir, the insurance TPA approval is pending. Please remain seated in your room until we receive the final payment."
You then spend the next 8 to 12 hours held hostage in a ₹15,000-a-day hospital room.
You are no longer a patient but you are collateral. The hospital doesn't trust the insurance company to actually pay, the insurer is deliberately stalling to find a typo in your medical history to reject the claim and you are stuck in the middle of a corporate standoff.
We live in a country where UPI settles transactions in 300 milliseconds and automated trading algorithms move crores in a microsecond.
The system is designed to exhaust you. They want you so frustrated and desperate to go home that the next time you get sick, you just pay the cash upfront and file for a reimbursement which they will conveniently reject 45 days later citing "insufficient documentation."
If my policy is active and the hospital is in-network, the final discharge should be an instant and automated API settlement. Man I paid insurance company for this service.
Until we force insurers to adopt automated clearing, stop calling it a cashless facility.
Call it what it actually is: an extortion racket with a waiting room.

Just curious 🤨:
Why would a loss making Tata group airline host such an event in an expensive non Tata hotel? There are so many high and mid range Taj Group hotels- aren’t the Taj hotels competitive enough or does the airline not care about expenditure ?
Happens so often!
@IndiGo6E 6E 2298 has been ready to start taxing for past 15 mins but can’t do so. Why?
Passengers board with oversized cabin trolleys that clearly take up far more than their share of the overhead-bin space, and often no one at the gate stops them.
Then, once onboard, the bins fill up. Passengers who have done the considerate thing and travelled with just a small backpack or compact bag are asked implicitly or explicitly to put it under the seat in front.
The irony? The person carrying a large suitcase gets the overhead space, while the person travelling light loses precious legroom.
Perhaps passengers need to be more mindful about the size of their cabin baggage. Or, better still, boarding staff should enforce cabin-baggage limits consistently at the gate.
Travelling light shouldn’t mean being penalised for someone else’s oversized luggage.
My 2 cents! Yours?
