Dastuurku waa tiirka ugu weyn ee dawladnimo iyo wada noolaansho; waa axdiga guud ee ay bulshadu ku heshiisay in lagu ilaaliyo xuquuqdooda, xorriyaddooda. Sidaa awgeed, waxaa waajib ku ah muwaadin kasta inuu si miyir leh u guto dantiisa guud, una istaago ilaalinta dastuurka.

Madaxweynaha Jamhuuriyadda Somaliland @Abdirahmanirro.
Last night in Davos, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, i met with the President of the State of Israel, @Isaac_Herzog at a high-level dinner. Our discussions focused on strengthening and advancing bilateral relations between the Republic of Somaliland and the State of Israel.
I also met @EricTrump , an influential global figure and son of the President of the United States, as well as other senior global political figures and international leaders.
It was an honor to engage key stakeholders and leaders on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos. My remarks highlighted Somaliland's distinctive historical journey, our right to self-determination, and the transformative promise of Israel's recent recognition for bilateral ties and regional harmony. I noted that recognizing us strengthens global stability and rewards merit. I concluded with a call to forge win-win partnerships in Red Sea security, trade, technology innovation, and joint efforts against extremism.
True friends of Somaliland are those who engaged with consistency, respect, and strategic foresight standing steady through changing tides and political pressure. Such partnerships grounded in principle and mutual interest, will be remembered long after this moment. #Independence
The Republic of Somaliland and its allies—the UAE, Israel, the USA, and Taiwan—are joining forces to defend the world’s most vital shipping lanes.

Today’s announcement by Somalia’s Council of Ministers to cancel all commercial and security agreements with the UAE underscores a fundamental reality: authority over strategic partnerships must rest with those who exercise stability and control on the ground.
This is not the first such claim. In 2018, Somalia declared it had “cancelled” the DP World–Berbera Port development. Yet nothing was cancelled. The world can clearly see how Berbera Port has since been transformed- an outcome made possible by the successful development partnership between the Government of the Republic of Somaliland, the UAE, and DP World.
It is the Republic of Somaliland and the United Arab Emirates that share a long-standing relationship rooted in history, trust, and trade. The people of Somaliland were among those who contributed skilled labor across key sectors during the UAE’s formative years in the early 1970s, forging bonds that endure to this day.
At the crossroads of global maritime commerce the Gulf of Aden, Bab al-Mandab, and the Red Sea lies a corridor vital to international security and trade. This gateway is safeguarded by Somaliland, a polity that has demonstrated peace, order, and reliability for more than three decades.
For 34 years, Somaliland has pursued its rightful recognition through peaceful and democratic means. Our partnerships, including with the State of Israel, are not intended to harm others, but to advance coexistence, opportunity, and shared prosperity.
To those misled by the narrative of a failed state os Somalia: acknowledge reality, recognize Somaliland, and pursue your interests where stability, democratic governance, credible partnership and geostrategic importance truly exist.

Great case in today’s @washingtonpost by the @HudsonInstitute’s @JMeservey for #USA🇺🇸 recognition #Somaliland’s de facto sovereign independence because it would be “recognizing reality, which is a necessary foundation on which to build effective policy.”

There is a strong and deep relationship between #Somaliland and the UAE, and it is expected that the #UAE will soon become the second country to recognize Somaliland. 💚🤍❤️ 💚🤍❤️
As the General Manager of the Hargeisa Water Agency, I warmly welcome the recent statement by @gidonsaar Israel's Minister of Foreign Affairs expressing interest in supporting improvements to Somaliland's water infrastructure.
The Hargeisa Water Agency is a robust, institutionally capable government agency, staffed by highly skilled professionals who have already delivered significant milestones toward achieving water sustainability for Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland. We have successfully collaborated with international partners on major initiatives, including:
- The Hargeisa Water Supply & Basic Sanitation Project, financed by the German Development Bank (KfW) with a project budget of EUR 23.5 million, which has already provided access to drinking water to more than 30,000 households in Hargeisa and is expected to increase this number by another 40,000 households by February of this year, enhancing distribution networks and sanitation access.
- The upcoming Climate Resilient Drinking Water Management for Hargeisa project, also financed by the German Development Bank (KfW) with a project budget of EUR 18 million, further strengthening the city's water infrastructure.
In addition to these valued international collaborations, the Hargeisa Water Agency—through sheer commitment and local initiative—has independently constructed and financed the Kalqoray Dam, the largest dam in Somaliland. With a capacity of up to 1.8 million cubic meters (equivalent to approximately 9 million barrels of water), this rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge project addresses the limitations of relying solely on underground reserves for a rapidly expanding city like Hargeisa. It can sustain the population through extended dry periods, marking a bold step in our pursuit of long-term water security.
We greatly admire Israel's world-renowned technical expertise and innovative water solutions, which have been successfully implemented in numerous countries facing similar challenges.
The Hargeisa Water Agency stands ready as a proven and committed partner to transform such visionary technologies into tangible realities for our city and the country.
We eagerly anticipate the future opportunities for collaboration between the Republic of Somaliland and the State of Israel, with water infrastructure serving as an excellent and impactful starting point.
Joshua Meservey presents a strong argument in this article that Somalia’s objections rest on a long-defunct fiction of unity, that the AU itself acknowledged Somaliland’s case as historically unique and self-justified in 2005, and that recognition would not violate colonial-era borders.
The 🇺🇸 is deeply concerned by reports that Federal Government of Somalia officials have destroyed a US-funded World Food Programme (WFP) warehouse and illegally seized 76 metric tons of donor-funded food aid for vulnerable Somalis. The Trump Administration has a zero-tolerance policy for waste, theft, and diversion of life-saving assistance.
Recognizing Somaliland isn’t charity — it’s strategy. It aligns with America’s security interests and the “America First” doctrine by strengthening an ally that shares our values in a region vital to global trade and counterterrorism.
