The #NorthernWritersAwards were so inspiring last night; not only because of all the amazing creatives and fellow writers in the room, but also what NWN is doing for young people in the north. So so honored (and in disbelief) at being chosen and excited for what’s to come.
@lucasjmaxwell Absolutely agree. And, when it comes to Secondary schools, having snobs for English teachers who want to teach the books they studied at uni which are often over the heads of their learners. For context, I’m English teachers, and this drives me nuts.
Well, this hope-filled year has ended on an absolute high as I’m beyond excited (and incredibly grateful) to say that I’m now represented by the amazing @lucyirvine93 at @PFDAgents … Wah! #WritingCommunity
@zoerichardsuk Ah I’m sorry about your shit year, Zoe - I hope that the other stuff isn’t big enough to make the headlines in the story of your life and this is the only thing worth remembering! ❤️

@ihussainwriter Exactly! Books were something which were discovered organically through cracking accessible novels… but so rarely are they set in the North, never mind working class characters! I remember reading Joseph Delany’s first Spooks book and it blew my mind 😂
