Flying back following meetings at the Whitehouse with US officials and counterparts in Washington DC. What a privilege and honour to be invited. I can’t begin to imagine the conversations that these walls have heard from leaders and decision makers from all over the world.
#TrumpCard used on @FIFAcom. You guys should be ashamed. It’s going to hard to wash away this corruption if Belgian end up losing because of a goal by @balogun.
When Blatter calls foul, that’s saying something. @FIFAcom, you guys need to control Infantino, corruption will destroy the sport. Whilst you’re at it, defer #Quansah’s red card for one year. Fair is Fair. Equality is important.
Red cards are not overturned by political phone calls. They are overturned by rules, evidence and independent bodies. If a U.S. President intervenes with the FIFA President — and a player is suddenly cleared before a World Cup knockout match — the question is unavoidable: Quo vadis, FIFA?
Football must never become a playground for political power. #FIFA #WorldCup #GianniInfantino #DonaldTrump
On 26 June, People of Somaliland proudly commemorate the day the Republic of Somaliland gained independence in 1960.
Today, the Republic of Somaliland reaffirms its enduring statehood, democratic path and rightful place among free nations.

I extend my warmest congratulations to all the people of the Republic of Somaliland on the 66th anniversary of our independence, 26 June 1960. On this historic day, Somaliland became the first of the five Somali territories to attain independence.
I didn’t know that Eritrea (similar to the borders of present day Somalia shown in the map) was under Italian colonial rule. Interesting that Eritrea was under both Italian & British rule at different periods during last century.
So I visited an Austro-Hungarian castle in Italy showing a map of the Horn of Africa from centuries ago. And of course Somalia did not include Somaliland then, just as it doesn’t include it now.

It was a privilege to visit Somaliland children receiving life-saving heart surgery in Israel and to witness firsthand care and treatment being provided to them. The courage, resilience, and smiles of these young children serve as a powerful reminder of the value of hope and the profound importance of saving human lives.
I extend my sincere gratitude to the doctors, medical professionals, and all those whose humanitarian efforts have made it possible for these Somaliland children to receive the treatment they need. My thoughts and prayers are with the children and their families. I pray for their full recovery, good health, and a bright future.
Today I escorted H.E Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi, President of #Somaliland & his delegation to meet the #Somalilander children (and mothers), brought by @SaveChildsHeart & @MASHAVisrael for heart surgery in 🇮🇱. These life saving procedures will change their lives.. 📷Shlomi Amsalem GPO @IsraelMFA
For anyone who forgot, this is what the African Union itself determined regarding Somaliland:
“The fact that the union between Somaliland and Somalia was never ratified and also malfunctioned when it went into action from 1960 to 1990, makes Somaliland's search for recognition historically unique and self-justified in African political history.”
@andreas_krieg You may want to read the history books about #Somaliland. You may be surprised to learn some key facts to apply to your (little) understanding of the Horn of Africa.
'This is the first time in 35 years that Somaliland has been received by another state with full diplomatic protocol. It is a historic moment.'

@Abukar_Arman I’d be more concerned about the impending civil war over the (s)elections in Mogadishu as former warlords jostle for Qatar/Turkish endorsement & funding. Don’t hyper focus on Israel. It is the first of many new states. Should have been our neighbours first but it’s their loss.
Bismillahi Rahmani Rahiim;
I have arrived in Israel as the first President of the Republic of Somaliland to undertake a State Visit, and I am honoured by the warm welcome extended by my friend, President @Isaac_Herzog
For thirty-five years, the people of Somaliland have built a peaceful, democratic, and resilient nation. We asked the world: Do you see us? Israel answered first. Today marks a historic milestone in our journey and the beginning of a new chapter in the relationship between Somaliland and Israel.
To the people of Somaliland: I carry your hopes and aspirations with me. Generations have struggled, sacrificed, and persevered to bring our nation to this moment. We will seize this opportunity with confidence, wisdom, and determination, always guided by the interests of our people and our Republic.
Today, history is being written, and Somaliland stands ready to forge a shared future founded on friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect.

Welcome to Israel, President Irro @Abdirahmanirro of Somaliland.
This historic visit symbolizes the great potential of the new partnership between our two nations.
Ku soo dhawow Israel!
The President of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro), today embarked on an official state visit to the State of Israel.
President Abdirahman was officially welcomed by the President of the State of Israel, Isaac Herzog.
Ku soo dhawoow Israel, Madaxweynaha Somaliland @Abdirahmanirro.

Isn’t binary, lots of factors. Unfortunately, corruption, incompetence and mismanagement is a reason why a lot of countries in Africa aren’t as developed. Singapore stamped out corruption & hired technocrats. It’s now per GDP richer than many western countries.
