@ygzgzot Don’t necessarily disagree with the thrust of the argument here, but isn’t it more correct to say “a society remains capitalist if the law of *surplus* value dominates production.”?
@gnomie34832511@katewillett@ChodeEmperor You really haven’t studied nature if you think this. First, outside of eusocial species there really aren’t “worker classes” in other species. Second, in the eusocial species, there isn’t some other class that dominant over the workers.
@47pumpkins@ziplamak FWIW, also, it feels like there is a difference between “conscious” and “hardwired.” if something is hardwired, wouldn’t that mean that it’s not a concise act? They’re just enacting genetic programming?
@47pumpkins@ziplamak If an animal appears to be doing an altruistic act, how would you know if it’s conscious & based on ethics? We can’t ask non-human animals. Many non human animals may have a conscious ethics that we either don’t recognize as such or that is radically different than ours.
@BenMalisow@imlorijay@dataandpolitics Just to be clear - I was making a joke. It sounds like that either didn’t come across or you didn’t hear it. Ofc you’d call an ambulance if you found someone dead, and not expect to pay for it.
