📢 @moonpay Update : Airdrop or Scam?

I don't even know where to start.

First of all, I genuinely like what MoonPay is building as a product. I think the vision of combining AI and crypto payments is exciting, and that's why I spent time covering it.

But I have to say this...

The marketing and communication around this campaign were really disappointing.

People stayed awake the entire night waiting for the rewards because of the expectations that were created.

To be clear, I'm not complaining about the reward amount. I completely understand that it's impossible to give huge rewards to everyone.

The issue is expectation management.

If you already knew the rewards would be limited or that many users wouldn't qualify as expected, why build so much hype around it? When expectations become unrealistic, disappointment is inevitable.

I also want to apologize to the community because I genuinely believed MoonPay would deliver a decent campaign.

If you've completed all the required tasks:

⬥ Connect your X account.
⬥ Check your reward allocation.

⬥ To claim the main reward, you'll also need to:
⤷ Verify your MoonPay account to receive the separate X reward.
⤷ Complete a transaction to unlock your USDC reward.

Reward amounts appear to be different for everyone.

From what I've observed, they seem to be either random or based on factors we don't fully understand. I received the same allocation on two accounts with very different activity levels.

The Bigger Problem: Regional Restrictions
This is the part that confused me the most.

Many users, including myself, are seeing:

"Coming soon to your region."

But throughout the campaign, the only countries repeatedly mentioned as ineligible were:

• United Kingdom
• Canada
• Australia

So why are users from India being restricted?

If India wasn't eligible from the beginning, why wasn't that communicated clearly before the campaign?

That would have saved thousands of people a lot of time and false expectations.

These are simple questions that deserve clear answers.

And it's not just me asking it's the entire community that supported this campaign over the past 24 hours.

As I've said before, I still believe MoonPay is building a great product.

But good products alone aren't enough.

If the team doesn't communicate transparently or respond to community concerns, people will eventually lose trust and credibility in the project.

We've seen this happen many times in crypto.

I sincerely hope the team addresses these concerns and improves its communication going forward.
