@KTInvasion@KTInvasion I'm sorry - I took down my webpage to update/upgrade and got busy with the semester, but I'm slowly getting it back up. I will let you know when they are back up again. Thank you for checking and apologies!
I am over the moon! @kellyrheamoore and I just received an IMLS grant to use herbarium specimens in high school curricula. Our project is called “Rooting Students in Their Botanical History” - I cannot wait to get started!
@chelsea_newbold @KateParsley_ @vnfraser No problem on plant pathology - all plant lovers count! Would you mind sharing your email with me via messages so I can contact you? Thank you so much!
Thread. This weekend was the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Diasbilities Act #ACA30. It's a perfect time to listen to disability advocates in fields like medicine, law, education, outreach etc. and do the work to dismantle barriers (often literal) to an inclusive society.
@chelsea_newbold @KateParsley_ @vnfraser Hello, I was wondering if you'd consider allowing us to include you in the "diverse botanist" list we are compiling. If you are comfortable listing your name and diversity, i'd love to have you represented. We are trying to ensure we have all types of diversity represented!
Yikes! Our Pet Plant Project uses "plant blindness," but I am totally going to switch from now on and use the PAD. Unfortunately that paper was published a few years ago. I'll update our lab manuals accordingly in the next addition and my lectures too!
@bulbman@Botanical_@AmSocPlantTaxon It started as a list of non-white historical botanists, but people have added contemporary folks as well. It now includes diverse professions relating to botany and there are columns for lgbtq orientation and/or disability (if publicly shared).
Please help add names of #DiverseBotanists past and present to the google doc below. I know there are many more that should be listed. If you can help fill in the blanks on the list, even better! Please share broadly. @Botanical_@AmSocPlantTaxon

@ry_folk My students are preparing 5 minute recorded presentations on folks from the list. Hopefully they will be awesome and I can share them on my website. Some are even interviewing living folks! Presentations are in 1.5 weeks, I'll let you know how it goes. :-)
What does a mask do? Blocks respiratory droplets coming from your mouth and throat.
Two simple demos:
First, I sneezed, sang, talked & coughed toward an agar culture plate with or without a mask. Bacteria colonies show where droplets landed. A mask blocks virtually all of them.
The #adaywithoutplants project was mentioned in the "Botanize!" podcast by @MelissaPetru! Thank you so much! Everyone should check out her stuff! It's great! https://t.co/wW3yJVRdFt
