CURE was launched today two years ago. In our second year we worked on civil society input for a stronger and more effective Council of Europe to the May 2023 Reykjavik Summit -- see around 100 proposals contained in the #HagueDeclaration, https://t.co/U28COzRaVG.
After May, we continued advocating using the Summit's #ReykjavikDeclaration - see docs at https://t.co/rJuMtB4B2T. We initiated public interaction with the candidates for CoE Human Rights Commissioner, and intend to do the same this year with elections for Secretary General approaching.
In 2024, the @CoE will celebrate its 75th anniversary. It has had tremendous positive impact but challenges to human rights, rule of law and democracy remain and serious new ones have appeared. Public and political attention and support is needed. We will work on this.
