Except for today’s excursions, the 78th General Meeting of the SNTS is now concluded and in the history books. Thanks to all the delegates and guests who made this meeting “down under” a success, and we look forward to seeing you in Regensburg next year.
@SNTS_org@SNTS2024 Working through the material culture of the Lycus valley right now through published wrks. Would love to have heard this paper. I'll be there for #SNTS2025 and envying those attending #SNTS2024 with an academic [z]ealousy. Sounds like a great conf so far 🤩
Thank you @SarahRollens for great chairing and your excellent comments & questions. Really interesting and helpful group chat. Valuable to be here. #snts#snts2024
Thank you for your @SNTS_org paper, @profjoantaylor! Looking forward to the book when it comes out!
(Note: the ppt had a white background—my phone somehow made it colorful! 🙃)
@SNTS_org@SNTS2024 I would like to have heard this lecture (among others, of course). Alan has developed a profound knowledge of this area of inner Asia Minor.
Alan Cadwallader (Australia) giving a main paper at @SNTS2024 on “The value and limits of the material turn in NT studies: reflections on a new inscription from Hierapolis in the Lycus Valley.”
Awesome to discuss the state of the art of historical Jesus research with the mighty @SarahRollens. In the mirror, finally proof that @robertjmyles is not a vampire. #SNTS2024
Fatilua Fatilua of Malua Theological College, Samoa, on the Asia-Pacific panel talks about reading the Bible with indigenous knowledge and tradition. All panellists talking about importance of reading in cultural context. #SNTS, #SNTS2024
Constructions of the Histories of Early Christianity Seminar @SNTS_org. Fascinating conversations around the scholarship and legacy of Edwin Judge - esp. the value of a dynamic relationship between the disciplines of NT, Early Christianity, Ancient Hist, and Classics. #snts24
I can’t express how much I love small seminars with pre-circulated papers. The HJ unit of @SNTS_org has had superb engagement so far. Looking forward to @profjoantaylor’s paper tomorrow, which is part of her book project on traditions about Jesus' youth/family.
Thoroughly enjoying @SNTS_org hanging out with pitching legend David Eastman, Jazzy Con, and the illustrious Adam White. And so many enjoyable conversations with so many wonderful people!
