The Science of Diversity & Inclusion Initiative (SODI) advances D&I and belonging in our places of work and learning through rigorous evidence-based research.
Quoted in @HireVue's guide, our @NeelaRajendra says “Direct messaging from senior leadership that diversity is critical signals to underrepresented groups that they are valued, while generic EEO statements can actually backfire because they signal tokenism." #ScienceofDiversity
I'm incredibly proud of the choices we're making at HireVue. @NeelaRajendra and the team @SODIorg are producing great research and best practices to change the world of work and I'm happy to be a part of it.

Exciting to see this research @B_I_Tweets! Experiments such as this demonstrate how we can further gender equality in the workplace and advance the #ScienceofDiversity in meaningful ways.
@EmilyNix100 presents on early data on how #COVID19 disproportionately impacts marginalized groups in the workplace. By analyzing the emerging data and applying evidence-based best practices, we can promote more equitable policies in our places of work. #ScienceofDiversity
Just gave a really fun talk for a cool new course @USCMarshall exploring pandemic and capitalism, in order to better understand both.
I spoke on impact of the pandemic on jobs and inequality in the impact by race, gender, and income, including some of my own research. [1/3]
@SODIorg's @NeelaRajendra interviewed Professor @jenniferdoleac on her #research on the policy of “ban the box," which discourages employers from asking about criminal records. Watch the interview to learn about recommendations for corporate leaders: https://t.co/vpu9AzL0ra
The article also highlights @SODIorg recommended evidence-based research for companies who are committing resources to developing anti-racist materials. Check it out to learn more: https://t.co/OD5iry5mYW!

Great article by @ejdickson featuring @SODIorg Research Affiliate @EllenKossek - "'If you’re making less money in a relationship and men make more, what’s happening is women are staying at home to cover for childcare and these are often low-income women.'"
#Scienceofdiversity
Bill DeBlasio’s plan to only partially reopen NYC schools is a disaster in the making, and it will impact low-income mothers the most, as I wrote for @RollingStone: https://t.co/nWa5YzWmmv
Great point, @katy_milkman. @SODIorg's most promising collaborations with corporate partners have occurred when Chief Diversity Officer or related role have this capacity -- including access to data and authority to implement field experiments to advance the #ScienceofDiversity.
Pro-tip #1 for those now creating Chief Diversity Officer roles or diversity committees: The person or group with oversight responsibilities should have the capacity (i.e., staff, budget, and reporting authority) to effect change.
✨New working paper✨ with @ProfKarpo and @jrpjrpjrp in which we conduct a multi-year field experiment to randomize the gender composition of semester-long groups. How do the token women fare compared to the women in majority-female groups?
