If we don't act, we all lose. The Mayor cut the PEF. The council is suggesting partial funding. Early childhood educators and the families and children deserve the full restoration of the funds. @FundPEF @dccouncilbudget@councilofdc@ChmnMendelson
MUST-WATCH: This moving speech by Senator Raphael Warnock at the Harris campaign rally in Altanta, Georgia, will be remembered and watched for generations to come. Just wow.
BREAKING: Nearly 100 orcas have emerged from the ocean to shut down Citibank’s HQ, the second biggest financier of fossil fuels.
The orcas won’t take it anymore. They’re taking a stand for all life on earth, orcas and humans alike.

Here’s what’s important to understand about the Pay Equity Fund - over 95% of the program budget goes to educator salaries and healthcare. Therefore, underfunding the program directly impacts the wages and healthcare educators receive
Thank you, @BrianneKNadeau, for asking about the PEF & eroding carryover dollars / OSSE's claims. We disagree that $70m is the right level unless, as a policy choice, there's agreement that educators deserve to face a pay cut https://t.co/DqHsx7wMGl
By following through on its commitments and investing enough in proven strategies, DC can be the first major city to end chronic homelessness. Our new report details cost estimates and recommendations from directly impacted people: https://t.co/gUXEkMejxD
Did you see this in the District? @SPACEsInAction LIT up the city urging to restore the Early Childhood Educators Pay Equity Fund. An important reminder that child care is everyone's business.

The tax system has allowed the rich to protect & grow their wealth, concentrating it in the hands of the few, widening the gap between them & everybody else.
Sign our petition telling DC lawmakers to tax wealth for shared prosperity. https://t.co/xO3BQYXzUd
In 2021, the CFO's office told me DC has spent only about 75% of the Cash Flow reserve at any one point in time. It's our biggest reserve. There is no need to rush to refill the Fiscal Stabilization Reserve based on cash flow fears. The CFO's argument isn't making sense to me
This claim in the story is wrong: "D.C. officials say Bower's proposed 2025 budget would cut the program, saving the city $70 million a year after the program did not meet its deadline to raise more than $200 million."
The issue is rooted in $ "needed" for the reserves, not PEF.
Cutting the PEF while giving a billionaire $515 million for sport is not just. Invest in a caring economy. Invest in the childcare sector with pay parity and healthcare opportunities. #DontCutThePEF#FundThePEF#TaxTheRich#KeepYourPromise
