The Wright Flyer III made its maiden flight this week in 1905. Somewhat forgotten following the Wrights’ first Kitty Hawk flight in 1903…the Wright Flyer III was really the first real practical airplane to soar the skies. The Wrights made several long-duration flights in the III, and improved its flyability and safety. The Wright Flyer III is also the only airplane that is a US National Landmark!
